Yes i can but it would take too long through via email.... but pretty much you have to go to your browser and enter this... 192.168.1.1 ..
it will bring you to a password screen... at this screen you enter admin in the password box.. after this it should take you to the linsys router system config screen... b4 this step you need to go to start and then go to run... in run type in command.. after camand comes up, {it will be a black screen type in IPCONFIG in lower case this was just a uppercase example... after this comes up you want to wrtie down your default gateway IP adress... you will want to have the main router plaugged in to your labtop when you get the gateway IP cuz that is the ip that your linksys uses to connect,,,, oohh gooodness,, ok.. after that go back to your screen where you typed in 192.168.1.1 in the password box type in ADMIN for the password,, and after this you will just follow the screen intrucrions.. as far as making a S/N make a 128Bit encryption password.. usually just ttping in a certain number in your keypad 28 times.. and that will be the router password.... if you need more help get back to me and i may phone to phone with further instructions but this should get you started......

my email.... shawnadams_420@yahoo.com

I have a BEFSR41 Lynksis router and when i try to connect to xbox live it tells me my NAT type is Moderate and it should be Open. How do i change it to Open?

Xbox LIVE has default ports that needs to be forwarded on the router.

To forward the ports, access the setup page of the router. In your internet browser's address bar type 192.168.1.1.

Leave the username blank and then the password is admin.

Go to the Applications & Gaming tab, click Port Range Forwarding.

In the application field, type XBOX LIVE.

Start End Protocol
53 53 Both
3074 3074 Both
80 80 TCP
88 88 UDP

In the IP address field, type the IP address of the XBOX. Check the enable button. Then save settings.

Good luck!

turn it off for about 5 to 10 seconds, turn it back on and should resolve the issue assuming wi fi was set up correctly.

If that does not work then re configure it and try it on a different channel

Disable internet access

Access your router Setup page
Open internet explorer go to http://192.168.1.1 (default) username: admin (default) password: "leave it blank" (default)
Go to Security go to Filter
if you know that Ipaddress of the computer you want to block for example 192.168.1.10
You can create up to five different IP Address Range filters   Users who have  filtered  IP addresses will not be able  to  access the  Internet at all   If you only want to filter one  IP  address instead of a range of IP addresses, enter the same  value into both fields  For instance, if you wish to filter the  PC with  the  IP  address of 192 168 1 5, enter 5  into both  fields on one line: 192 168 1 5 ~ 192 168 1 5

if you know the MAC address of the computer click the Edit MAC Filter Setting and input the MAC address you want to block.
blocking by MAC address is the most effective solution to block a computer... while blocking by ip address will be easily bypass by changing the ip add of the pc

then saved your settings and reboot..

Lynksys is causing high blood pressure

Hello cyndilynn

OK, my friend, don't fret. Let's find out what the skinny is. First things first...

(01) Do you have the manual for your router?
If not, you can download it from HERE.

(02) Do I understand you correctly that you are able to connect to the Internet from one of your computers and not the other WHILE using the Linksys BEFSR41 router?

Some points to clarify:
(A) Your Linksys router (connected between your cable or DSL modem and your computer(s)) and your Linksys NIC (installed in your computer) are two different animals that serve different purposes.

(B) Your router should be connected to each of your computers via "straight through" (not "cross-over") Ethernet patch cables that run from the LAN ports at the back of your router to a NIC connection on each of your computers.

(C) The NIC and the ROUTER do not have to be made by the same manufacturer (in this case Linksys). Manufacturer's NICs and ROUTERs can be mixed and matched just fine.

I suspect the issue is w/ detection of your NIC on one of your computers. I doubt the issue has anything to do w/ your router.

If that is the case, please, provide details about the two desktop computers that you have tried the Linksys NIC in (one successfully, one unsuccessfully).

(03) What operating system is each computer running?

(04) Has the computer that you have been unsuccessfull connecting to the Internet through the Linksys router ever been successfully connected to the Internet?

For now, please, answer these 4 questions and provide any other information you can think of (the more details the better). Then we'll move on to the next step.

Thank you
BJ

Cisco & Lynksys befsr81 linksys router

Connect a pc to port 2 on the befsr41. Push the reset button for 30 seconds, unplug the power for 10 seconds. Check pc ip address, it should be 192.168.1.xx. If that is the ip address, the router is working.

It the power light is blinking.. then it seems to be a problem with your router..one thin i can suggest you is .. just unplug the power cable.. and wait for 20 sec and then reconnect it and check.. if still the same , look at the back of your router..you would find a reset button.. press and hold the reset button for 60 sec witha pen or a paper clip with the power connected.. and then disconnect power and wait for 30 sec and reconnect again and then check if still the same ..the your router has gone bad.. better replace your router..if its still in warranty..
