Green lines and jumpy

I replaced the bulb about 6 months ago and just now replaced the color wheel. I am still getting green lines to randomly come across screen and it it jumpy. What else could be causing the problem?

Tapping the tv does nothing to it. I even moved it violently and it did not cause the jumping or anything to happen. How do i locate the ic or capacitor that would be the problem. that might be slightly above my head but if described well and all I could do the changes as far as that goes.

  • aerocool Feb 02, 2009

I will order that. Should that have all the replacement parts that are needed for my repair or will I need to order some other parts?

  • aerocool Feb 10, 2009

The kit you had me to order was for a mitsubishi V26. Does that have the same board or something? According to sonny berry with service manuals thats what i ordered and nothing that would fit the RCA i am having trouble with. Please advise.

  • aerocool Feb 14, 2009

that kit just came with 4 capacitors and the diagrams were for a mitsubishi tv. I'm confused at what needs to be done now. Can you please explain?

  • aerocool Feb 21, 2009

So if that is not the right kit what am i supposed to do? What kit is needed?

  • aerocool Feb 21, 2009

there is more than just green lines now. I've started to notice them in red and blue as well. Please advise on what to do next.

  • aerocool Feb 22, 2009

how do i check the green tube

  • aerocool Feb 22, 2009

I already replaced the color wheel as i stated above

Hi...the flickering and the green is the colorwheel going bad. Very common for this model and an easy fix too.

It sounds like the green tube has a flaw in it. you could have a couple of bad capaciters causing the jumping about on the picture but i would check the green tube

The ic's or capacitors on the hyperboard will also do this. usually the hyperboard.

If tapping on the TV makes the picture jump, it confirms that a
defective solder connection is the cause of the jumping picture. I
would say that most likely the defective connection is on the pins of
    the vertical output amp IC

Some non-technical things you could do are:

ONE: Smack the unit huskily with hand or fist while set is on. See if
the picture restores or goes bad when smacking it in a certain
location. This often will dislodge or wakeup a bad connection of cold
    solder joint.

TWO: Do a hard reset; just unplug the power cord for at least 2 hours,
then reboot. This will clear any software related issues.

THREE: Rotate the big screen unit by 90 degrees in search of
interferance that may be bouncing down from the power company line or
    such.

FOUR: Switch to video input and feed signal from vcr or dvd player. Do
you still get the squiggle lines? IF so it is clearly a problem within
the set. If it goes away when in video mode you could have an
intermittent cable connection either at the receiver or within the wall
plug or along the cable line within the house.

As for manuals? There's not much to that model. The power supply
board, System board (exchange only), ballast*(exchange) and the
engine. Only the power board would be considered serviceable,
everything else, including the ballast is replace only.

I WILL DO SOME MORE SEARCHING TO FIND YOUR SERVICE MANUAL OR ILLUSTRATED PICS/DIAGRAM TO SHOW YOU.

That is a very strange kit. There should be way more capacitors. The kit is was supposed to be for your
RCA, not Mitsubishi. I may have given you the wrong part number and I apologize if it was my fault. You will need the kit for the RCA

you ballast is going out or the color wheel was inserted properly

In order to identify whether is the tube that cause the dim or from bad components, one can always use a CRT tester/meter to check it. Some call it CRT rejuvenator, CRT restorer and others named it as CRT regenerator. These testers are designed to test and check CRT and fix it if the picture tubes have problems. I personally owned two CRT testers- the BMR 2005 Muter regenerator and a less feature one I bought from Thailand. With the help of CRT tester, I can know if a picture tube is working or not. If you do not have one, don’t worry because by checking the voltage at the CRT socket pin outs, you will have some ideas if the CRT is good or bad.

Issue is most likely with the optical light engine the model listed here uses, no mystery and very common issue.

My samsung HL-S5086W has a high pitched buzz that is present when muted, and continues for 2 or 3 seconds after you power off. Any ideas? I heard if it continues after power is off, then it is a fan, not...

Samsung BP96-01579A Color Wheelno the fans will not produce a high pitched noise. they will ususally produce a dull noise because they dont spin anywhere near as fast as the color wheel. the color wheel will start up before you see video and stay on for few moments after power down. if the fans were faulty the tv would give you message on screen.

Flashing in Blk,Wht, and a little color

Sounds like maybe your color wheel needs to be replaced. If you have noticed a humming noise in conjunction with the intermittent colors, then that is most likely the issue.
My 51" Vivitek started to hum loudly about 2 months ago and I kind of ignored it ,but it got so loud and annoying I had to do something.First changed the bulb and then bought a color wheel at www.vancebaldwin.com .Login as guest and then enter your model number into corresponding box. They have a few Vivitek parts.
I replaced my color wheel myself and it works great!
I'd be happy to help any way I can.
Good luck!

Color blinkig in and out.

It seems like the color wheel might start to fail.
Do you hear any abnormal sound(s) from the TV when ramdon color appears.
Would you be able to check and make sure all the fans are working properly?

Toshiba 56HM195 56 in HD DLP Loud Buzzing and color distortion

If the sound, sounds more like a Hum with some vibration chances are the Cooling fan located behind the lamp is going bad, about $20 to repair, if its a high pitch hum most likely the Color Wheel and if thats the case about $30.
Good luck, my fan just went bad now seeing green dots everywhere, so debating on just junking it out or fixing it, with winter coming on might just breakdown and buy LCD and say the heck with DLP from now on.
Good luck to you..
