Have been very displeased with getting parts for my machine locally. Is there a better way? Also my machine will not turn on or will not sew it is if it is jammed. How to fix would help me out. Thanks

Use this business for parts:

1. Make sure the outlet is a good one. Plug something else in to make sure.
2. Look at your cord carefully to check for breaks, cuts, etc.
3. Plug in. If no power slightly bend the connections and plug back in.
4. If you still can't get the machine on you may need to get a professional to help.
5. Check your bulb/replace if necessary. This will indicate power.
6. Do you have a connector under the machine with two plug in's? If the light doesn't come on except when you push the pedal then you have the plugs reversed.
7. If you can turn the hand wheel with your hand it isn't stuck. Clean the bobbin, replace needle, check needle isn't rubbing against sides of throat plate opening.
8. If it feels stuck take out the bobbin case assembly and turn the hand wheel without any thread on the top either. Get it unstuck and oil all gears, wheels, etc where you see metal against metal movement. When you move the hand wheel pay attention for movement of the needle. Is it rubbing anyplace or do you year pings?
9. Some of these will help you to get it going or give you an idea whether you need to go to the repairman.

My machine used to free motion quilt without a hitch, now it is skipping stitches.

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

When sewing straight stitch the needle thread was looping up on the bottom now while trying to adjust, the needle doesnt grab the bobbin thread

You have a tension issue. Use the dial on the front of the machine. to turn the tension tighter.Use a double length of fabric and sew a little, turn knob, sew a little, turn knob. Continue doing this till top and bottom thread are equal and grabbing in the center. Good Luck... xo

I purchased a pfaff 927 at an estate sale. I can't get it to stitch at all. I can hear it hum when I push pedal. I think it might be the stop motion knob. It doesn't turn at all. I disengaged the

Maybe in the stitch pattern you have chosen it won't go unless another has matched it. My Pfaff did this to me the other day. Puzzled and decided it was the first time I used that stitch. Changed it, and it worked.

Turning wheel disconnected from motor?

I would try replacing the needle, as it may have got bent. I have had this happen and I was sure needle wasnt effected. when I changed needle it was fixed. The very tip of my old needle had a slight curve and wasnt connecting to correct spot on throat plate. make sure you have needle in highest position and that stitch selection in turned back to straight stitch.

I have a janome 1600P, it will not sew without either the top thread breaking or the bobin thread breaking. It will sew for about a quarter of an inch and then the thread breaks, I have changed the bo

My experiences with thread breaking with machine on a quilting frame make me look at the upper tension being set too high, the needle being worn or movement of the machine is too fast. Reduce the upper tension first, then sew in straight lines at first. See if you can sew slowly, in straight lines and reduce the upper tension until the thread stops breaking. If so, try some 1-2 inch circles, again going slowly. If the needle thread is pulling to the back, you will need to increase the upper tension again until the stitches meet in the middle of the fabric. If you can't locate a balanced spot where the needle thread is not pulling to the back side and thread doesn't break, try taking the machine off of the frame and sewing on a table. If it won't sew this way, it needs some professional help. If it does, you will probably save a lot of time taking it in for service, making sure to explain to the repair center that you have problems on a quilting frame, not while sewing normally. When the machine is adjusted to sew normally on a table and you move it to the frame, you will probably need to reduce the tension by 1-2 complete turns of the tension knob.

How do i add thread to the bobbin? i have wound it and placed on the knob, and pulled out the wheel but nothing is happening..

when you place the bobbin on the bobbin winder on top of your machine, you then push the lever closest to it into the bobbin until it clicks. most newer machines will automatically quit using the needle when you are winding a bobbin if its an older machine there may be a push button on the wheel or you may have to loosen the knob inside the wheel to keep the needle from operating , you then use the foot pedal to wind just as you would to sew. Bobbin will automatically pop when full, be sure to redo anything that you had to undo to wind bobbin.
