Sure.  START -  MY DOCUMENTS -EDIT-  SELLECT ALL - DELETE.
After that , go to the Hard drive: . START - MYCOMPUTER- right click the hard driver image - click on properities - clock on disk clean up.  After that is done, click on TOOLS. Click on defrag now. Defrag it. That will scramble any left over enough not to worry about it. If you are really very worried about, save a bunch of junk files after defragging.

1) Go to Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Click on Add or Remove Programs]
4) On the left side boarder, at the very bottom it will say Set Program Access and Defaults
5) Check off Microsoft Windows
6) Then click OK
If there is more steps after that follow them.

Yes everything will be wiped out, once you do the recovery. It will reinstall the factory settings.
You may try this first; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, then try to boot from safemode. Tap F8 upon booting up to enter the advance boot option. Select safe mode, save your files once loaded in safe mode. You may first try the system restore from , go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, select the previous date the laptop was working fine. If this will not work then the last resolution is the recovery.

Hope this helps.

How do I actually start to format my Toshiba Satellite M100? I have only a product recovery DVD-ROM.

Hello
Just put the recovery DVD in DVD ROM drive and boot system from DVD ROM, by changing the boot options from BIOS, rest will be done by computer itself.
Hope this helps.

See let me talk with you from experience...

The only thing that can be done is system restore to factory default and remember to backup your documents.

This is the only way to resolve the problem you are going through.

Cheers.
