Question about Dell Inspiron 1150 Notebook

Seems like power source in back of 1150 inspiron is loose

The adapter needs to be moved ever little for it to stop charging. it won't charge the laptop and sometimes i get it positioned just right for it to charge but otherwise it's maddening because it won't show it charging... i don't know what to do.

The internal become loose or broken after constant use
or you may need a new ac adapter
your best bet is to get it fixed before it worsens.
take it to a small pc repair store they won't charge as much as a major store.
the price is usually 60.00 and up
take ac adapter with you.

Appears to be a loose connection between the AC adapter and the computer. Inspect the port on the computer where the AC is being connected for any damaged. If available, try using another known-good AC with your computer to isolate if the problem is specific to the AC adapter. If the same thing happens with another AC, the motherboard needs to be replaced. If the warranty of your computer is still active, contact dell and request a replacement for the motherboard

Please could you offer me free solution to my problem? my lap top inspiron 1150 won't power on , the battery is not being charged and the power icon doesn't show up at the task bar.

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

My computer won't charge! The problem is that where i plug in the charging adapter that "little hole" is loose and won't keep the adapter in, ultimately not letting it charge

This is really a physical damage to the slot for the plug.
There are some tweaks that you might try to keep it there, like pushing it and holding it with something, or use scotch tape or something similar, but ultimately it might affect the life of your battery.
There's really nothing substantial you can do other than changing the power adapter.

My AC adapter suddenly can't seems to be able to charge my battery. Please kindly advise

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced. Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective.

My inspiron 1525 is not charging. Have replaced battery and charging lead and still does not charge.

Based on what you have stated, you replaced the battery and charging lead but the laptop still won't charge. What do you mean by charging lead?
Are you referring to the power adapter?

Since you already changed those two things, then the problem could be the power jack of the laptop and/or the connections inside the laptop.

Try to plug the power adapter slowly and try to wiggle it. It you feel that the power jack is wiggling, then the problem is a loose power jack that is why it won't charge. And you need to have a tech tighten that up for you.

Have a great day!

My iBook G4 Won't Charge

Sir, to help you solve your problem I need a few details. 1. What is the input source?--in my country power input is 240V AC at 50 Hz.
2. What is the adapter config? Tha t is the 'mA' and 'V' rating on the adapter.
3. If it is a loose connection on the adapter(as it seems to be in your case) you can slap it and get some results for sometime. It that stops working, you will either have to open the adapter and fix the loose connection. Or get a new adapter(recommended)
I think, this is a prob with the adapter. Even if it is not the adapter, using an adapter that works in fits and starts will damage the battery in a long run.
Please change the adapter.

Power Problem

Some thing shorted out that capacitor, you will have to find the source . It could be you adapter or it could be that the power connector is loose and the pins shorted. Really sounds like a new system board.
Sorry.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Battery will not charge

Hi!

It's your ac adapter that is causing this issue. The ac adapter doesn't supply enough power or doesn't supply any power at all to the battery. Try to borrow another ac adapter from any inspiron system and if that works, then you need to replace the ac adapter, else, it's the motherboard.

Hope you find it helpful.

Thanks,

Karlox™ :)
