I checked the Lexmark site and Two ink supply sites and none show the model X3359, there is a Z800 but no Z611. Either the printer is olkd and no longer supported or the model number is mistyped?

My lexmark x3470 wont recognise compatible ink Cartridges any know of a way round this

If the ink cartridges you purchased are not Lexmark - that could be the problem. I used to have a Lexmark printer and I did the same thing - I purchased ink cartridges that were compatible but not Lexmark brand. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print and then I would get the same error sign and low ink message and it would not print. I kept thinking I was doing something else wrong and tried everything. In the end I broke down and got ink cartridges from Lexmark and that solved the problem. Now I have a Brother printer and I never buy anything other than Brother ink cartridges because I'm always afraid of that same thing happening again. I wish I knew which printers WOULD accept those non name brand ink cartridges, but thus far I do not know of any printers that do. Hope this helps you.

'Left cartridge incorrect' error message. Have tried changing the cartridge, cleaning the cartridge, running a flush cartridge etc but will not recognise the cartridge and so will not print. is it...

These printers monitor the cartridges and dont like you using aftermarket ie non Lexmark, or not made by lexmark cartridges. So Im wondering If you have tried 2 x brand spanking new OEM Lexmark cartridges, or if you are trying to use cheaper from net remanufactured or "for use in lexmark" cartridges. If this is the case then this is your problem and also very common.

Are you using a photo cartridge and a normal color one?

These I beleive can not be mixed in different slots.
- Photo cartridges you will only need one installed on the left side.
- Normal ink you will need two installed (Black on left and color on right) .

Also Lexmark themselves have a couple of documents on this issue, here and Here

But these efforts will all be useless unless you are using Brand New Original Equipment Manufactured (OEM) Cartridges. This I see day in and day out, I get a lot of people tell me they are using original when they are not in fact, You will know by the price and lexmark carts do not state "for use in"

I dont think it is a problem with the printer, if you are using both brand new OEM cartridges then the firmware fix from lexmark should solve or you are trying to mix Photo type and normal type carts.

But these days ink jet printers are non repairable (well too costly and uneconomical to repair) throw away items, the expense is in the inks and manufactures vertually give away the printers so you will buy their inks, and lexmarks are designed not to like refill and aftermarket inks as are most modern inkjets.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you are using real ink and have tried the firmware fix and still are having issues, but all i probally end up telling you is buy another and welcome to our disposable way of life;)

Steve

Updated firmware as directed by Tech Support at Lexmark last nite, now printer won't accept my non-Lexmark cartridge. Any solution?

Excellent of Lexmark to trap the public with their inflated prices for ink cartridges and the Chips inside each cartridge that do not allow refilling or the use of any other compatible cartridge.

If you updated your firmware, you are done for!! As you said the compatible ink cartridge was working ok and Lexmark knew it, hence you were probably instructed to update to a version that looks for a Lexmark specific key to id the cartridge and force you to buy the original ones.

My printer is only 4 months old and have printed no more than 3k lines in 10 letters and some webpages and already it has stopped printing untill I buy a new black cartridge!! Talk about blackmail!! I thought I bought the printer for printing not as an excuse to enter into a life time agreement to buy ink. So the printer is not going to be used anymore and something else DEFINATELY NOT A Lexmark will replace it very soon.

The other reason why you are done for is that during the installation of the drivers you inadvertantly installed a Spyware program that reports back to Lexmark your serial number, usage and ink cartridge levels everytime you use the printer or the PC connects to the internet. Check it out, the directory is called Lx-CATS-33 and the file is IxeaCATS.exe

The best solution I can suggest is to leave ALL Lexmark kit well alone back at the shop where it belongs, However tempting the "offer" and "competitive prices" leave it alone, until they play fair, with more reasonable ink prices and the option to refill if that is your choice. There are many marketting models they could employ to recover the supposed subsidy on the printer. Also all inkjet manufacturers should be forced to remove the unecessary waste of ink everytime one switches the pinter on and off.
Hope this helps you to understand why you already wasted your money buying Lexmark, dont waste anymore of your time and effort trying to find a fix.

Come back Canon all is forgiven!!!!

I want to know what ink does it need. What to buy for my Lexmark X7500 series

I have the same printer and I go to Office Depot, the cheapest around, and you get rewards. Lexmark 41 Print Cartridge is the color and Lexmark 42 Print cartridge is the black.

My Lexmark X5410 Printer will not recognize a refill cartridge.

Hi there

This is the same old story with Lexmark printers, you cant do any thing about it the chips have a small fuse inside them and soon as they emty it blows the fuse, and thats it so I beleave the only way is to buy new ink, or a diferent printer.
Not know any fix for them myself sorry.

Can try.
Turn printer off. Unplug power cord and other cables. Wait 30 seconds. Plug cords and cables back in.

Also seen this on the net.
Use clear tape over left hand row of sensors on front of cartridge and re-insert. ink now shows with question mark but reads as full and prints fine.

but yeah, best bet, never ever buy lexmark.....:)

If that doesn't work, try disabling your ink monitoring software.

Lexmark z640 has stopped printing - goes through the motions but no ink on page

Some third party cartridges will not work with your printer as they are remanufactured from used cartridges.
It is more expensive to buy genuine Lexmark ink, but atleast you know it will work.
You may try reinstalling the driver before buying new ink.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck.

I changed the black in cartridge in my Lexmark printer with a lexmark #16 black ink cartridge(which I have done many times. It didn't print black Colors do print). I figured the cartridge was defective so...

Wweluvgolf, sometimes after you remove the protective tap from the ink cartridge, it leaves behind tape residual. Suggest you clean the ink cartridge's copper contacts with alcohol & cotton swabs. (No dripping alcohol). Do not clean the bottom of the ink cartridge. Also clean the copper contacts in the carriage. Allow all to dry. Reassemble & try printing a test page.
In the future keep your recipts when buying ink. From time to time you will buy a bad cartridge. With the recipt you'll be able to exchange it for another (free). Always store ink in it's upright posistion.

If this did not help please let me know & post the model number of the printer.

Luck!
Mike

Ink levels on lexmark z1300

I bought this same printer and after trying numerous things to refill the cartridges (which are detailed at fixyourownprinter.com), I have concluded that if you are using black cartridge #28 and/or color cartridge #29 you cannot refill because these are the "return program" cartridges. These specific cartridges cannot be refilled and technically any attempt to refill them is against Lexmark contract which you agreed to when you opened the sealed bag the cartridge came in.(Dont believe me? check the bag) I think the bag also said that there can be criminal charges filed against you if you refill these cartridges but I seriously doubt that lexmark would go after you since it has never happened before. My recommendation is to purchase the more expensive 34 and 35 high yield cartridges which I believe but cannot confirm will let you refill. What did you expect from lexmark? This printer is sold at a loss and do you really think that they would sell you a printer so darn cheap and not expect to make that money back somehow? These printers are usually picked up by cheapskates (such as myself) who have no intention to buy any more cartridges other then the initial one. Well ive learned the hard way that lexmark as well as other printer companies are now fighting back. If you want cheap ink I hear that KODAK is selling a printer that is a bit more expensive then the other brands but has very cheap cartridges. Oh and If you did buy the high yield cartridges then please reply so I can update the thread on fixyouownprinter.com and let everyone know.

Hope this helps makes things a bit more clear. Thanks for reading!
