Hey, my printer two weeks ago had no ink and I tried printing anyways, then for some reason something on my computer screen came up as a paper jam. I checked the printer and there was no paper jam so I tried printing again, then for some reason the printer will try to take the paper and crush it up in a little corner and then the E3 came up and it said that I needed paper on my printer when it already had. I tried again and again to print but it kept doing the same thing, so I left it alone, and I bought ink 3 days ago and it still gives me the same problem. I try turning the printer off but it doesn't work. Please help me! Thanks, By Candy

The below taken for a previous answer. Not mine.

My Canon Pixma blinked E3 for days being non-usable. But I tried it and it worked. I cut the back cover off a high end home design magazine. I turned the printer off. Then on... as it rebooted I force stuck the magazine cover into the paper feed. First time nothing changed. I did it again and the printer booted up with a 1 instead of a blinking E3. Thanks By Owner
Maybe there are sensors or switches that had to be reset near the paper rollers. Who knows. And the problem started after changing the black ink cartridge

Try cleaning the paper feed rolles with nail polish remover. If problem presist replace the feed rollers.

Error 3 indicated - what is it and how do I fix it

E3 means that there is a paper jam. If you are getting the E3 error and there is not an actual paper jam you may need to do is simulate a paper jam. Try inserting paper crooked to cause a jam so that when it starts trying to feed the paper through it gets jammed. Then lift the cover up and take the paper out. You'll then get a bunch of the lights flashing. Turn the printer off and then back on and you should be good to go.

Paper jam (e3) BUT no paper jam

make sure you open all check points, if yours has a rear feed through, look in there also. it only takes a tiny piece of paper to cause it to say that. use a flash light, have had to use one to find several that way.

I get the E 3 error message which I understand means paper jam. There is no paper jammed in the printer. I unplugged it and replugged it and it sill shows the E 3 message.

E3 error mean if printer has jammed in the machine.Clear paper jam,or paper feed sensor was displaced.clear or check paper sensor then solve your problem.

E3 error code

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

CANON PIXMA MP150 Error E3

Hi! Have you checked the correct source for paper feed? you can use either sheet fed paper tray at base of printer and from top loose sheet feed. Make sure selection is correct, button below/to right of pwere switch.
Hope this sorts it, it did this on mine.

E3 code error mssg on printer MP160

As you will probably know E 3 on Pixma is paper jam.

Double check that there is no paper inside, and turn printer upside down shaking it a bit to check if there is any small foreign object (screws, pins, coins etc.) stuck inside.

When there is no jam in the paper path, this problem is typically caused by a broken part in the paper feed mechanism, in the page unit.
The paper feeding mechanism has two white plastic gears connected together with a central spring, near to the waste ink tank, at the bottom of the printer.
This are quite delicate, they often get stuck or boken, or you lose the spring, and the printer stays stuck with E3 error.

MP160 Error E3

I work in a shop repairing these printers and have had a large number with the same fault - displaying E-3 with no jam in the paper path. This is caused by a broken part in the paper feed mechanism that pevents the printer from taking the paper. The part located right at the bottom of the printer looks like two white gears connected together with a central spring. At present I am trying to find a supplier of the spare parts - will check back.
