Samsung refrigerator filter light won't go off after new filter installed

You have air in the system purge air by allowing water to run thru.

If your water and ice maker are not working, you may not have turned your water valve back on. If your water valve is turned on, try rotating your water filter further so that it completely locks as it may not be installed all the way. Once it is completely installed, press the "water" button for approximately three seconds until it turns blue. Dispenser Does Not Operate

• 1 Ensure that the water supply line is installed according to the manufacturer's directions. Turn the water supply shutoff valve counter-clockwise to fully open it.
  
• 2 Replace the water filter or remove the filter and install the plug. A clogged filter will prevent the water dispenser from functioning properly.
  
• 3 Place a large container under the water dispenser. Press and hold the dispenser lever for at least two minutes to remove air in the water system.
  

Does Not Dispense Water

• 1 Inspect the supply line and shutoff valve for clogs. Call a plumber to remove clogs in the line or shutoff valve.
  
• 2 Replace the water filter cartridge or remove the filter and install the plug.
  
• 3 Ensure that the filter cartridge is installed properly. Remove it and reinstall the filter cartridge. The cartridge will lock into place when installed correctly.

Recheck you steps and see the warnings:


1) Turn on the main water supply & shut-off valve of the water
supply line.

2) Run water through the dispenser until the water runs clear
(6~7 minutes). This will clean the water supply system and
clear air from the lines.

3) Additional flushing may be required in some households.

4) Open the refrigerator door and check if water leaks around
the water filter.

Remove any residual matter inside the water supply line after installing filter.

NOTE :A newly-installed water filter cartridge may cause water to briefly
spurt from the dispenser.

OK maybe try 1/4 inch counterclockwise and pull down. Here is what the service manual quotes.


That is easy for anyone to misread.
Water Filter Removal

The water filter is located in the upper right-hand

corner of the refrigerator. The water filter filters water

for the ice maker and the water dispenser.

1. Turn the water filter 1/2 turn counterclockwise and

pull it down.

2. To install the filter, align the indication mark

(unlock position) and push it up while turning 1/2

turn clockwise until the lock position is aligned.

Do not over tighten.

Reset Filter (select models)

When a water filter has been installed in the

refrigerator, the yellow Order light will illuminate when

90 percent of the volume of water for which the filter is

rated has passed through the filter OR 11 months have

elapsed since the filter has been installed.

The red Replace light will illuminate when the rated

volume of water has passed through the filter OR 12

months have elapsed since the filter was installed. A

new filter should be installed immediately when the

Replace light is illuminated.

After replacing the filter, press and hold the Reset

Filter pad for three seconds. The Order and Replace

lights will go off.

Vacation Mode

The Vacation Mode feature causes the freezer

to defrost less frequently, conserving energy. The

Vacation Mode indicator light will illuminate when the

feature is activated. To deactivate, press the Vacation

Mode pad again OR open either door. The indicator

light will go off.

Look at the tap on your water faucets. If there is a mineral buildup there, white and green crusting, the same thing is happening to your water dispenser, and the ice won't taste too good either.

if there filter was not properly installed you would not have any water at the door.
you do not need to turn the water supply off to change the filter.
you should be able to push the filter light for three seconds,they do not turn off they just change color

You have to reset the light by pressing and holding the touch pad for 3-5 seconds. It doesn't reset on its own when you replace the filter

Can I Use the Water Dispenser Without a Water Filter? The water and ice dispensers will work without an AquaPure water filter installed. The water filter housings are designed as rotary valves that allow the water to bypass the water filter whenever there is no filter or the filter is not in the lock position.
Models designed for use with the AquaPure water filter are shipped with a cap in place to cover the opening and keep it free of debris prior to the installation of the water filter. It is not necessary to have this cap in place for the unit to bypass the water nor is it intended to plug the housing to prevent leaks.
Note: This does not apply to the Quatro Convertible models. The filter must be installed on this model.
