Question about HP Pavilion A645c PC Desktop
I am trying to bookmark sites on my PC but nothing is marking. I am running firefox and zone alarm force field as my security
Hmm zone alarm should not be stopping you from bookmarking it has no outgoing connections to bookmark so that should have nothing to do with your problem. :)
My first thought is that the bookmarks.html file is read only, this happens sometimes after upgrading your firefox.

If this did not help or it was not read only, another known reason for the bookmarks button to stop working is if you have either a non compatible extension/plugin installed or if you have norton antivirus that messes it up (compatibility issues). I would try to troubleshoot this by first slowly disabling one by one the plugins, meaning disable one, restart firefox, see if it solved it. You do it the following way:
1] From menu that is at the top of Firefox window, you need to click on Tools options and then choose Add-ons. Add-ons window will appear.
2] In add-ons window, you have to select Extensions panel to view your installed extensions
3] Check for extensions known to cause problem when they are installed with Norton: These include Piclens, freecorder, FoxyTunes, Google Toolbar, and Skype extension. If you do not have norton then just go one by one slowly disabling for test.
4] Disable one by one each and every extension that you have from list above each time testing if the one you just disabled was responsible
For disabling the extension do the following:
1] Click on the name of that extension to disable
2] To disable this extension, you have to click on disable button.
Repeat the steps given below for each extension that is causing problem.
5] After you have disabled the extension, you have to close Firefox window. Click on file menu and then choose exit.
6] Right click on any empty spot in Windows task bar and then choose Task manager. An alternative way is to press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
7] Select processes tab
8] Select firefox.exe entry in processes list and then press End process. If there is no “firefox.exe” entry then you can skip this step.
9] Start Firefox browser normally
10] Close Firefox browser again. Click on file menu and then choose exit
11] Start Firefox browser again and see if bookmarks works
Alternatively if after disabling all the addons/extensions the bookmark menu still not works, you can always backup your bookmarks file (located in profile folder, see above for exact path), save it somewhere, reinstall firefox completely and import/copy back the bookmarks.
