Here's the full error report:

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgtdix.sys: starting service....
Error 0x80070014

I got this error after trying to reinstall AVG 8.0 because i forgot to install a firewall before. RIGHT AFTER i uninstall AVG 8.0, the computer is restarted. When it starts up, i installed AVG 8.0 again to get the AVG firewall. The actual AVG version is 8.0.0.233

I got AVG 8.0 here: http://www.avg.com/us.download-trial
It's called ''AVG Internet Security.''

There is a known issue between AVG 8 and Anniversary Edition of Ad-Aware which gives exactly this error, so if you perhaps just got that ad-aware, uninstall it too before trying to reinstall AVG.

Then run the uninstall/cleanup util for Avast because the Windows Add/Remove isn't good for uninstalling antivirus programs. Then try reinstalling it again. If you downloaded the installation package, then it provides the uninstall option. Disable Ad-Aware's Adwatch first! Run the AVG installer. Choose the uninstall option and follow the wizard. When you get to the part to remove user settings, select it. Restart your computer then... Now reinstall AVG using the setup file you got and update it.
Restart Windows twice before you re-enable anything disabled earlier.

Should this not work and you get the same error, that means the original errornous installation is still not out of your system. Download the AVG remover from here:
http://www.avg.com/download-tools
Remove your AVG and reboot to make sure it is not there any more, and try installing again.

Let me know if the solution worked and if yes please rate me:)

Ad-Ware Anniversary edition causes this problem if you have it installed and operating before you attempt the AVG installation. Uninstall Ad-Awre and install and update AVG and then reinstall Ad-Aware. It worked for me.
