Ok,here's the deal. You'll need lots of patience. The mirror has two threaded stubs about 1-1.5 in. long that move inward and outward to move the mirror in or out. These two are about two to three inches apart.
1. So take these 'two stubs' out of the mirror housing and make sure you snap 'em into the back of the mirror plate (plastic plate) where the mirror is glued to.
2. Now with lots of patience, move the mirror back into the housing making sure that the stubs are inserted into their respective holes. But don't push 'em all the way in.
3. Instead push the mirror little by little until every part is lined up to its correspondent receiving hole in the mirror housing
4. Make sure every parts matches its corresponding spot and keep pushing the mirror back into the housing.
5. You'll get to a point where you need to apply force (but be careful don't apply too much) to snap the whole mirror plate (plastic plate) back into the housing.

How to replace passenger side mirror. Glass is

You can usually just replace the mirror, any commercial auto-glass store has the glass you need. sometimes it is necessary to replace the mirror and its backing (a plastic frame which snaps into the adjustable motor) you don't need to replace the whole mirror unless the housing is broken.

1999 Pontiac Montana DRIVER SIDE mirror attachment broken.

The most inexpensive cure is to replace it entirely. I've gone to dealers to buy small parts & paid more for the small parts than the entire item costs elsewhere.

I didn't of course call & verify the exact price since I can't see the damage so I'm going on years of replacing mirrors others have broken off & asked me to repair.

You can see the part in it's entirety on eBay at a reasonable price for heated & power, see item #
110440973578 priced at 48.00 incl. S&H.

good luck

Replace right side mirror only without replacing housing

www.burcoinc.com
goto 'redi cuts
goto 'instalations', here it tells you how to replace all the different styles of mirrors. I think yours is a "snap fit / drop fit". You can buy a replacement mirror (like a burco) from your local glass shop or check with your dealership (but they may want to sell you the entire mirror head assembly)
*******make sure you get an automotive mirror (FMVSS 111 approved) Not house hold mirror that someone has cut.*******

You'll have to replace the entire assembly if you're missing the mounting piece that the mirrors sit on inside the housing... You'll need to remove the door panel in order to remove the panel that's right beside the mirror on the inside of the door and remove the 3 bolts holding the mirror down assembly down....

Replacing passenger side mirror

If you are replacing the entire mirror assembly you have to remove the door panel.

First remove the switch plate by prying upward at the rear of the switch plate and unhook the connectors. Then remove the two armrest screws. The door panel then has to be pryed away from the door to release the clips. They don't give up easily so yo may have to force it a bit. Once the clips are loose pull up on the panel to remove it from the window reveal molding. The mirror is held on with three 10mm nuts. remove those and unhook the wiring from in the door. Install is reverse of removal.

Good Luck
