Question about Dell Inspiron XPS M140 Notebook
When i start up my laptop, it has a very very dark screen, I can not lighten it, but if you move the screen all the way up untill it stops and the laptop is flat, you can see the screen and programs running behind it. Is there anyway I can fix this without getting a new screen? Because from what ive heard, the screen could cost almost as much as my computer. Please HELP!!!
Try a hard reset by removing the battery and leaving it out for 1 min. At this time while the battery is out, keep pressing the power button off and on. See what happens.

Try adjusting BOTH brightness AND contrast. If either is way out of adjustment, you won't be able to see anything except a phantom image.

Looks like your gonna need a new screen ( MAYBE )
may just be a loose or broken wire.
before it gets any worse take it to a small repair shop they'll charge you less then a major outlet.
Most will tell you on the spot at no cost if you need a new screen or not.
and yes the screen can be expensive
