My webcam works fine but the microphone crackles all the time

Because of the noise coming from the webcam it makes it difficult to hear the conversation If I sing, play guitar and harmonica fairly loud, which is most the time, i get pretty constant crackle during the play back. Con you disable the mic on the camera and plug in an external mic?

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud

You can disable the mic by going to your audio panel, go to the record tab and there you can find and disable your webcam microphone. Some webcams refuse to record then though through the webcams software but you should be fine on other programs.

My xbox microphone makes a loud noise at random times which then my friends tell me microphone is making a noise i disconnect but then it comes back soon to make the noise

The wire on your headset could be loose. Every time you move your wire, you could either talk through it clearly or otherwise it will make a static noise.
The only solutions I have for you are:
  1. Buy a new compatible headset
  2. Fix the wire (NOTE: It is difficult)

Hello,
Is the microphone built into this webcam? If it is are you using this as the microphone while in Skype? If you open Skype and go to options and then tools you can select which microphone that Skype uses. Please update with answers so I can help further.

Use on laptop creates noise & frozen picture 4 person talking to

Its not due to the laptop, the other person is viewing you on the internet (Yahoo/Msn etc) so the Video might get frozen sometimes or may be a lot many times depending on the bandwidth or the server load.

The voice is due to the microphone you are using, you can use microphone with noise reduction technology with some noise reduction utility.

I can hear my daughter when we skype but she gets no sound from me.

When you are in a call, find the little down arrow beside the call time near the bottom of the call window. Choose Sound Settings...
Find the green volume indicator under Microphone and make some noise. If it lights up and moves, your mic is working fine. Adjust the volume of the microphone by dragging the speaker slider left or right.
If the indicator doesn't move or light up, try choosing another device from the Speakers dropdown list. If you still can't make yourself heard, repeat this for all the devices.

If this doesn't help, reinstall your audio (sond card) driver software.

Best o luck

Microphone within webcam crackles

If you have another Mic I would use that. Otherwise I don't know how to solve this, check out this page though http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921334

Under cause there is something about disturbances by monitor, router, televesions and speakers. Try getting your camera away from other things and see if the audio straightens out.
