Question about LG VX9800 Cellular Phone

Just did a *228 within a day display says searching for service

Cannot dial out switches back and forth between normal service 1Xlllll then EVllll then EV1X.... verizon told me when i got the phone to do a *228 each month..it wouldnt be too hard to put a bug in that reprog data, everyone needs more money nowadays.My wife and i have LG VX-9800 phones and all of a sudden she is having problems too.

    Mine both do the exact same thing and Verizon also said I should get a new phone. I have the new phones like the Voyager and the Storm but this is my favorite phone and I made sure I had a spare. This has to be something up with them. Keep fighting with them about it and tell them that others are having the same problem and that you like your phone. What a bunch of doodie.

    Same exact issue. Just started happening after a programming "upgrade". No issue prior. They did something to this phone. I'll go to verizon tomorrow.

    thanks guys im going to print this and take this to verizon they are telling me they can ship me a rebuilt same exact model for 50 dollars but why would i do that when i can upgrade to the voyager for 30 dollars more see its all about the money not fixing the problem.

I've been having the same problem. I decided to muck around in the advanced settings and see if anything would help. I seem to have found something that does.

Flip open the phone and hit the ok button to bring up the menu. Hit 0, then 000000. Once in the menu, go down to option 6, H/W Test.
In there, choose the first option. You'll get an error message. Hit ok to go back to the menu. Next, choose the second option and choose "Online" instead of "FTM". Your phone should reboot. If it doesn't, hit end and try to exit out of the menu.

After I did this, I was able to sync with the network, so I immediately programmed the phone again, rebooted, and then updated roaming as well, just in case. It seems to be working so far, but I don't know if or how long it will last.

    If the above doesn't work, add these steps:

    After choosing the first option in H/W Test and getting the error, choose the first option again and switch to "CDMA". After that, continue with the steps outlined above.

    After rebooting, be persistent. Every time the signal flashes back on for a brief moment, hit *228 and try to get through. I had to do it a couple dozen times, but it went through eventually.

How to boost cell signal when service is poor


If your cell signal is going down especially in an area you normally have good service in or if you never turn your phone off with cdma technology( verizon, alltel, tracfone, ...no sim card) if you dial *228 from your cell hit send like making a cal and press option 2 it will update the phones signal and roaming capability and any new updates that your phone may not received due to bad area travel or not powering the phone on and off. It usally increases by one to two bars and if you are unable to get it to go through drive into town near any verizon wireless store they all have cell towers near them and try again. this can be done any time any where there is cell service within the continental u.s. and I do it if I travel from my home to the town 30 miles away because the signal changes so dramatically between towns. just a tip if your bars are dwindling away to nowhere.

How do i rest my phone,when i locked for got my pascode and dnt remember my number? I have a LG Cosmos 3.


To unlock the password on your LG Cosmos, you need to re-program your phone. This will default the code to the last four digits of you cell phone number.

You First need to temporarily activate the ESN (also known as MEID, HEX) off the back of your phone underneath the battery to you Verizon Wireless cell account.

You can change the ESN (Electronic Serial number) as follows:

1.) Verizonwireless.com

2.) Dialing *228 opt. 1 from the phone you want to activate, while the current activated phone is off

3.) by calling customer service to temporarily activate the phone (1-800-922-0204 or *611 from a Verizon Wireless handset not involved.

(note: most all phones, even if their locked should still be able to call 911 and the programming number (*228)

You can activate the phone for a day to an existing account just to do this if necessary.


Once you change the ESN on to a phone number and program it
Dial *228 on your phone, listen in and pick option 1 for programming.
after listening to music for about a minute or two you should hear "programming completed successfully"

Once you hear this you can hang up the call. The phone should reboot by itself.

If not power it down manually and then power it right back up.

now you should be able to unlock the phone with the last four digits of you cell phone number you chose to activate it too.

My blackberry curve 8520 constantly returns to the contacts screen and will not stay on the home screen. It keeps dialing numbers. What can I do?


Power you phone off remove the battery for at least a minute and power it back onIf the issue persist make sure none of the buttons appear to be stuck.

if all else fails since you probably wont be able to get to the proper menus to reset the software I would contact your service provider by the website or customer support line for the closest repair store.

Power is good going into the timer but the timer is not running. I am wondering if there is a fuse that needs to be changed or a reset switch? The timer has been replaced in the last year.


If I understand correctly, you have T-104 240V timer.
Timer was running fine before, and recently stopped working.
If this is not your timer, add a comment.

1) Click manual override back and forth to see if Load turns on-off.
If Load does not turn on-off, then check power at Load.
Timer has 5 terminals A 1 2 3 4
Check terminals 2 and 4 for 240Volts when Load is ON

2) Check terminals 1 and 3 for 240Volts to make sure timer has full 240V and breaker is not tripped OFF on one leg. If timer has 120V, it appears to have voltage, but clock will not rotate and Load will not turn on-off. Check breaker for 240V across both screws.

3) Is dial rotating?
If dial is not rotating or is stuck in place, replace 208-277V clock motor.

4) If dial is rotating, but trippers don't flip on-off lever, then trippers may be worn down. Buy new trippers.

How timer works
:
Clock motor rotates dial.
ON-OFF trippers on dial contact lever.
ON tripper pushes lever one direction.
OFF tripper pushes lever other direction.
Lever moves electrical contacts together, or pulls contacts apart.
When lever moves on-off, manual override lever also snaps back and forth with audible clicking sound.

Verizon LG VX5300


If you're with Verizon, you can simply dial *228, and choose option 1 when prompted. If *228 does not work, contact Verizon Wireless Customer Service from a different phone besides your cell phone at (800) 922-0204 and they can assist you with manually programming your handset.

Similar issue here ..allways had service/signal here yesterday and today no service. samsung and verizon gave limited assistance. Battery goes dead quickly ,so have one comeing. like pulling teath to get free /warranty battery from verizon!

Resetting the clock for DLT?


I had the same problem with my env. The way i fixed mine was by dialing *228 and pressing send the dial the number 2 when it asks you to update your roaming capabilities.
