Question about Altec Lansing Multimedia Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Only one speaker is working

Only the left rear speaker is working. I am also having trouble with the front right speaker connections at the subwoofer. It cannot be fully inserted, and must be carefully inserted in a touchy position. Any suggestions on getting all four speakers to working again.

FIRSTLY STIP ALL WIRES ABOUT 1/4 INCH.
Shove wire in speaker input as far as possible.
Make sure no other wires are touching each other and make sure there is no bare wires showing.

Then on your computer, go to the little sound icon in the bottom right screen, right-click on it, select playback options or devices.

Make sure you have selected the right amount of speakers you have. You can use the test button to make sure they are all working.

Let me know how this goes so I can further help you from there

    sorry,
    After right clicking on speaker icon, click playback devices, then double click on the speakers icon. than view your setup to make sure it is the correct one.

    Also, make sure your Jack is plugged in on the right one.

    quadrophonic is for 4 speakers
    5.1 is for 5 speakers which would also include center channel or sub.
    there may even be a ouput jack just for the center channel also.

Hi .. i have just bought a logitech x 530 speaker and only 2 of the speaker parts work .. can you please give me some solution advice?

Hi names Rui i like to help you by giving you step by step instruction in propely hocking up your logitech speakers:

Instructions

1. Connect the black plug of the rear right speaker into the black plug on the subwoofer.

2. Connect the yellow plug on the rear left speaker into the yellow input on the subwoofer.

3. Connect the red plug of the front center speaker into the red input on the subwoofer.

4. Connect the white plug of the front left speaker into the white input on the subwoofer.

5. Connect the d-sub connector plug from the front right speaker into the d-plug connector on the subwoofer.

6. Connect the green, black and orange input to the matching plugs on your computer. If you have a four-channel sound card, connect the green plug from the input audio cable to the front plug of the card and the black plug to the rear plug. Do not connect the orange input. If you are using a two-channel sound card, connect the green plug from the input audio cable to the "Line Out" jack on the sound card. Do not connect the green and orange plug.

7. Plug the subwoofer power chord into the electrical power outlet.

8. Place your subwoofer on ground around your computer desk. Position the front center speaker on top of your computer monitor.

9. Place the left and right front speakers on the sides of the monitor. Position the left and right rear speakers behind you, making sure they are pointing toward the front left and right speakers.

10. needs to support 5.1 surround. Normally, more than three sockets for sound indicates that it does. Then you need to use the software that comes with the sound hardware to configure it for 5.1 - Default will be 2.1 or just 2.
Check the control panel out. This is a lot easier under Windows 7.- Here you can access what you need via the speaker icon on the system tray (right click)
There is NO problem with your OS or hardware, this is pretty standard...

hope this will help you solve your problem.

When I hook up the speakers in the back to the left and right side for the in and out, do I connect the front or rear speakers. do the speakers connect to the subwoofer first then to my receiver or the...

I was trying to find an owner's manual or picture of the rear panel of the sub, but had no luck. The subwoofer is a powered type - or "active" speaker. This means it has a built in amplifier. These active subs usually provide for one or both "low level" and "high level" inputs. Low level signals are usually carried by shielded coaxial cables and have RCA type plugs on the end. The low level is also called "line level". This is an un-amplified signal that might be heard on cheap earphones - but that's about it. It is similar to the output of a tape deck, DVD or phonograph. These signals require an amplifier to be heard. If you have a sub woofer output on your receiver or amplifier, you could run a patch cable between the low level input on the subwoofer and the subwoofer output of the amp or receiver. You receiver or amp may call this output "low frequency effects" or similar. The front and rear speakers would then connect directly to the receiver or amp's corresponding connections.

If you lack low level outputs on the amp or subwoofer, you'll need to run speaker wires from the amplifier or receiver's front left and right speaker output terminals to the subwoofer's high level input terminals. High level signals are speaker connections or amplified signals. These are typically connections that accept bare wire connections. The front speakers would then connect to the subwoofer's front left and right speaker output terminals. The rear speakers connect to the amplifier.

I hope this helps - and good luck!

violet=right rear pos.
violet/black=right rear neg.
green=left rear pos.
green/black=left rear neg.
red=12 volt switched power source
yellow=12 volt constant power source (direct to battery)
black=chassis ground
orange/white=illumination (switched source,not to head light switch)
blue/white=amp turn on lead (to remote turn on lead of amp)
blue=auto antenna (switched power source)
brown=phone mute lead (to cell phone mute lead)

That should be all there is. on the yellow that goes direct to the battery you need to use an inline fuse holder with 30 amp fuse.
