Question about Whirlpool Cabrio 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Plus Gas Dryer

NO HEAT THE GAS VALVE IS OPEN, ELECTRICAL BREAKER IS ON, AND THE DRYER IS WORKING BUT NO HEAT.

    I have a Whirpool gas dryer with I think may have the same problem. The ignitor & thermo disc has continuity, but won"t heat. The model number is lgr6636pwo.

Hello there:
On the back of the dryer near the fan blower housing is a thermal fuse, if this opens up ( no continuity ) the gas burner often quits but the motor will still run. If the thermal fuse is open/bad, always clean, change, adjust the venting system and vent hood first and clean out the dryers air ducts. Sometimes it is a good idea to replace the operating thermostat at the same time.
Thermal fuse parts help link...on blower housing cover, can not be re-set, must be replaced if is open (no continuity between pins).

    • 1 Check the cycle selector control to make sure a heating cycle has been selected. The selector should be in an "Off" position when not in use, but it should be turned to a drying cycle when in use. On some models, make sure you are not accidentally running the dryer on the "Air" cycle, which does not use heat.
    • 2 Check the gas supply valve to make sure it is open if your dryer is a gas dryer. If it is not open, just lift the valve open.
    • 3 Look at your house's main breaker box to determine whether a circuit breaker is tripped. The electric dryer runs on 220-240 volts and has a double breaker. If the breaker for the heating element is tripped, the drum may tumble the clothes without heat. Turn the dryer's breakers to off, then back on; test whether the dryer will produce heat.
    • 4 Consult a technician if troubleshooting does not resolve the problem.

My LG Electric Dryer Model # DLE5932W is not drying, it tumbles and I have electricity to it. Can You assisit me in figuring out why it wont heat?


There are 2 possible causes:

1. The fuse may be blown or the circuit breaker is tripped. Check your house fuse/circuit breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if necessary.
2. The heating element is burnt out. This will probably need to be replaced by an engineer unless you are competent, have the service manual and can get the part.

The points above are assuming you are using electrical power for heating. If you are using gas, then the simple answer is the make sure the gas shutoff at the dryer and the main shutoff are fully open. If you're using gas and the shutoff valves are open, get an engineer. Gas appliances should never be serviced or repaired by an unqualified person.

Kenmore gas dryer is not getting hot


But the clothes drum is turning? Running? If you have a electric dryer you need to replace the heat elements. If gas you need to replace the igniter coil.

I have provided a checklist for both gas and electric dryers, courtesy of; www.repairclinic.com.
They also provide repair parts, disassembly diagrams, and instructions.

Firstly, ascertain that you have made a positive heat selection, then read on.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.
Electric Dryer Checklist:

If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Power from the house
Heating element
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

There is no heat but the cycle runs it's normal time and stops when time runs out.

Hi


Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
  • house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them )
  • heating element, burnt wire
  • thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ),
  • motor heat switch, timer, selector switch,
  • burnt power cord/plug.
You can check these things using an ohmmeter/multimeter from here.


Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:

  • glow bar igniter,
  • thermal fuse ( not all models ),
  • coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats,
  • motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.

Q - My electric dryer runs but will not heat, what could stop my dryer from heating?

- house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them ), heating element, burnt wire, thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ), motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, burnt power cord/plug.
