You can just use any standard component cable Red/Green/Blue doesnt have to be anything fancy, I dont really buy into monster cables being that much better than just standard quality cables from Walmart/Kmart

Not getting HD from the set. I have an HD cable box. I bought an HDMI adapter, but still no HD.

The cable box output needs to be set to HD, 1080I, 720P, 1080P. If you call the cable company they should be able to set the box up to ouput a higher resolution. A way to check your hd would be to play a blu ray disk through a ps3 if you have friends with one or have one yourself. If it plays hd just fine you know for sure it's the cable box.

Will I be able to receive HDTV programming on my TV?

Your HDMI Cable or Component Cables will plug right into their receiver box. You won't need anything else and they should supply the cables too.

Sony kp 51ws510 upgrade to HD - how to do this

There are inputs on the back of the set. If your tv is Sony 51ws510 then it is capable of HD, but you have to have component or DVI cables to connect the tv to the HD device (HD cable box or DVD player).

On your set the component inputs on the back of the tv are video5 and video6 in the middle located in a vertical line (red, green, blue rca video connections with red and white rca audio connections).

You also have a DVI input toward at the top of the input panel (white connector with red and white rca audio connectors).

Sony projection tv with dual tuners; only one tuner appears to be working now.

To verify that the tuner is the problem, move the cable from the second to the first. If you don't get a signal, the tuner is bad. The main tuner is part number 859843000 and is available for $47.38 from tritronicsinc.com

Screen goes black and resets during HD shows

I just posted this to another Sony owner:

Another point; HD Ready does not mean that it is HD compatible without the addition of an optional part.
The title only implies that it can be adapted to HD reception.
If you did not purchase it with the set, check your user guide to see what you need to make it whole.
You may have to seek this add-on on eBay since it is not guaranteed that Sony will still offer it.

You might want to check this:

Progressive scan

progressive scan? does your tv support 720p, or 1080p HD? (the p actually stands for progressive scan).
Another alternative to that is: http://www.playerschoicevideogames.com/pd_psp.cfm

A bit more expensive, but i think it works on any tv.

Sony KP-57HW40 tv is what we have now and is this a high definition tv?

After the FEB 2009 cut over, your "OLD" tv will nolonger be able to receive OFF THE AIR signals as they will be broadcast over different frequencies. HOWEVER, as long as you subscribe to CABLE or SAT TV (Dish/Directv/etc) your old TVs will continue to work as they always have -- (because the signal is not OFF AIR) but you just won't have an HD picture.
