Question about Lowrance LMS-527C DF iGPS GPS Receiver

Open Question

Running LMS-527c DF iGPS.exe files with Windows 98?

Hi there - I have Windows 98 on my home computer and although when I download and install the executable files for the LMS-527c DF iGPS it seems fine, when I go to click and open the actual .Exe file - it tells me that I am missing a Maptarget.dll file.

?.

Is there any way to find this missing file and re-install it? Can I download this file off of a site or is there something that I'm missing with the installation process?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

-Jerry Fleury.

Is there an external antennae for the lms 527 combo available

  • No it does not. Lawrance often makes either external or internal GPS units. This is an internal antenna unit only model. Hope this helps.

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from the CD
  1. Insert the Norton AntiVirus CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the installation program appears, then click Browse the CD
    • If the installation program does not appear, then double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, and then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.

This will undo the changes that were made to your system during the first failed installation.

Unit not working properly

G'day
I had a similar problem of the unit turning off when the engine was started.
I simply replaced the battery as the one one boat was only registering about 11 amps. This unit requires amps to be over 12 to maintain the readings. This fixed my problem at least.
If you are not getting a reading on the transducer you may need to make some slight adjustment on the transducer itself. Is it installed correctly? There is a manaul with pictures detailing the exact method of installing the transducer. It is very important you get this right.
Good luck mate

Installing jetflash 2 windowsme

Download and install the following files and try again. The should also work with Windows ME as it is just a dressed up version of Windows 98.

For Windows 95, 98 and NT VBRun60.exe - VBRun60.exe installs Visual Basic 6.0 run-time files.
VBRun60sp5.exe - VBRun60sp5.exe installs Visual Basic 6.0 sp5 run-time files

For Windows 98 only DCOM98.exe - Extends the support for Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) for Microsoft Windows 98.

System Code Error 87

Sounds like the application you are running may not be compatible with Windows 98. Probably can't do much as Windows 98 is so old.

Although it may be a missing file, DLL, or driver on your Windows 98 system, hard to tell.
