You can get the replacement STK392-110 Ics and the JVC convergence resistor kit #1 at the following link which has the complete step by step instructions with pictures so you can easially do it yourself. You will need the resistors also as JVC will definately blow one or two resistors minimum when the Ics fail. Heres the link.

JVC AV56wp74 convergence. Resistor before ICs?

It's recommended to replace all the defective parts first because if you only replace the defective resistor, it might burnt again if the convergence IC is shorted internally. I would also suggest to measure the other low value resistors with multimeter.

Red lines all over the screen

this set(AV56wp74) was first made in 2003----if you use the remote for the set and go into the customer menu---select convergence----once there see if the red and blue will move left/right and up/down----if either color will not move in any one of these directions----you have a bad convergence IC--this set uses 2 of the STK-392-110 output ic chips---both need to be replaced and the set adjusted with the original JVC remote control. I hope this has been helpful.

1. disassemble front speaker panel.

2. locate circuit board in front with the 2 large black or silver heat sinks standing up. (this is your convergence board).

3. disconnect all the wires on this small board, but make sure you take a picture first to know where they all go.

4. look for 2 black cips that says stk ***-***.

5. order replacement chips on line.

6. learn to solder before chips get to you home.

JVC AV48WP30 convergence ic

I'm in the process of trying to replace both convergence IC's in my JVC also. I was able to buy both IC's (they look like black semi-rectangular components with 20 pins sticking out...like a computer chip only much bigger) at a TV repair shop for about $15 each. They were clearly labed STK392-110 (but could be 150 or 180 if you wanted to upgrade).

Bad convergence on my jvc model av56wp74

If you can solder and you are comfortable working inside a set where there are potentially dangerous high voltages, yes you can fix this. The problem is likely to be either bad connections on the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you still have the results of the previous repair, please post those here and I'll provide you with additional details and instructions.

It is located in the front of the TV behind the speaker grille and access panel its the small narrow board on the left looking from the front. PLEASE NOTE do not remove the back panel on that model with the power still hooked or operate that model without the back panel in place or you will harm the digital section of the TV and cause major problems that model has a safety feature that will wipe out the digital memory if the backis removed while the cord is still plugged in
