The saw itself is pretty good, but some dummie went and used plastic gears for the chain adjuster. I returned the 1st saw after 2 wks, and didn't use it much but the gears stripped and the whimpy little metal bracket that fits in the blade bent & broke.

If they want to sell more of these saws they better spend .20 cents more and make real metal gears and bracket.

    I am looking.

SOURCE: oil for remington 3HP 16" chain saw.

The oil for an electric saw would only be for lubricating the bar, so you would only need to buy bar oil.

SOURCE: I need a replacement motor for a Remington

You can buy this complete saw for about 75.00 on amazon. I've heard of others burning up the field and armature in this model saw. You can buy a homelite electric at Home Depot 50-75 depending on model. Doesn't seem like it would be worth fixing, only to have it burn up again. Sounds like it needs a thermal overload to prevent damage. GOOD LUCK1

Usually any where that repairs lawn mowers, snowblowers, and chain saws or places that sell them like Sears.

Chain doesn't engage when I turn the saw on. The saw kicks on, but the chain seems stuck. The sprocket?

There are a few of possibilities Millie. If the chain is excessively tight it will not turn. If the chain came off at speed and there are burrs on the drive links it may not turn (see the following please).
http://www.fixya.com/support/r4146814-chainsaw_chain_installation
Last and most likely there is a stripped gear. Remington is no longer in production and parts are becoming difficult to find. Start here (the IPB is very useful for disassembly too):
Remington.com
http://shoppingcart.msservicecompany.com/Default.aspx
  • Type "YourModelNumber" into the "Search for your unit by Model:" window, then click search.
  • Click the “YourModelNumber” - Remington Electric Chain Saw "View Model" link.
  • Click “View Owners Manual” or "View Illustrated Parts Diagram" link.
  • Type "YourPartNumber" into the “Search for your parts by Part #:” window, then click search.
If the part is NLA or Back Ordered above try here:
Master Distributors
http://www.masterparts.net/remingtonelectricchainsaw.html
If still NLA probably time for a new saw. Sorry.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Good Luck. HTH

Motor turns --sprocket or chain doesn't

I'm assuming your kill switch is not engaged, the front handle should be pulled to the rear. It's normal to have some damage on the sprocket from loose chains catching on the corner so I doubt you need a new one. The motor turns? I'm assuming you're talking about the clutch, and if the clutch spins but the chain does not it sounds like your bar may be damaged or as you said the sprocket may need to be replaced if it's seriously been misused.

I have a 16'' electric chain saw, model 107625-02, and the channels in the cover over the sprocket broke so there is no way to maintain tension on the chain. Is that cover available for purchase?

I am uncertain of what is broken. Can you give me a "Item Number" from the Illustrated Parts Diagram?
