Did you check to make sure the card is seated correctly? Try removing and reseating and make sure the card is level and firmly inserted in the slot and repeat the driver installation.

I'm going to assume you are trying to install a Firewire adapter card.

They make Firewire adapter cards that fit a long white PCI slot, on the motherboard,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3264905&CatId=511

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_local_bus

,and a Firewire adapter card that fits a PCI-Express x1 slot,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#Form_factors

[NOTE* Color of connector does NOT matter. Blue, Black, Pink with Yellow polka dots............doesn't matter ]

Do I assume you have the PCI-Express x1 version, and there is no PCI-Express x1 slot on the motherboard?

You are also having problems opening the cover, that keeps the brackets of add-on expansion cards in place.

How about posting the Model Number of the Gateway Desktop PC?
This is found on the back of the desktop computer, next to the Windows product key; or up on the side of the computer tower.

Post back in a Comment.

I will look to see how to open that cover, and what expansion slots you have on your motherboard. Then post back in a Comment.

How can I connect my Panasonic AG-DVC20P camcorder to my computer when it does not have a firewire output?

If your computer does not have a firewire port then you need to install a firewire adapter card into the expansion slot in your computer.
I suggest you Google search for firewire adapter card on the Internet, you will get a price comparison form various suppliers.

How can I add firewire to my HP s5730f slimline when the pci express slots are blocked? Is there a pci card I can use to add firewire?

Hi, yes, you should be able to add a firewire card that goes into a spare PCI slot inside your computer. I have provided some links for you to have a look at.

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__pci+firewire+card_W0QQ_dmdZ2?rvr_id=225057574812&crlp=2874201279_284591_284611&UA=WVI7&GUID=55fa9e2812f0a5aac495e335fff88dad&agid=1381991649&tm_kw=pci+firewire+card&siteid=3&MT_ID=11&tt_encode=raw&keyword=pci+firewire+card&geo_id=21&ff4=284591_284611

When you say your pci express slots are blocked, do you mean that you have a card, likely a video card, already installed in your pci express slot? You should have available pci slots anyway and you can purchase a fireward card and install it yourself. If you are unsure about this then you can do a search on youtube as there are lots of how to videos on there regarding this type of installation. Good luck. Andrew

Would like to install a firewire card in Gateway DX-4822 - don't know how - can you help please?

Buy a PCI card like
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124015&cm_re=firewire_pci_card-_-15-124-015-_-Product
open the side panel of your pc and install the card in a free PCI slot, start the pc , close the New Hardware wizard and launch the installer from the disk that came with the board.

Can't get wireless card to install

This is strange, and it sounds like you've done everything right, but.....have you tried a reverse install?

Remove the card, un-install all the drivers and remove the device from the device manager if the uninstall doesn't do it.

Shut the machine down (turn it off)

Install the Linksys card in your available PCI slot.

Start the machine back up. When the Found New Hardware message pops up, follow the prompts from there instead. Your PC may be able to load drivers it already has. If not and if it asks for a disk, then use the CD you got with the card.

All of this assumes the card is ok to use with XP

Firewire PCI card not recognized

Hello,

Sometimes, when one is inserting a card, one does not push it firmly in place. If some contacts are not well established, the card may not be recognized.

Hope it helps.

Firewire with video camera

You can purchase a firewire card that will fit into a PCI slot on your motherboard. It is really very easy to install, phillips' screwdriver (2PT) is the only tool you'll require. REMOVE POWER CORD, pop open the side, look for two or three white slots about 5" long towards the bottom...that is a PCI slot. Now look at the card you are going to put in, you'll see you need to remove another silver colored rear slot cover that is even with the PCI slot...just take your time and slide it into the PCI slot and the silver slot at the sametime. Put one screw in it close'er up run the software that came with it and bingo your video camera will work with you puter.
Hope you got this...it is really simple (plug it back in after replacing the side panel)
good luck, please leave a rating, thank you kindly
