Question about HP Pavilion 753n (P9852AR#ABA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

On my HP Pavilion I set the BIOS to change the boot order from the CD drive first. Then I intalled Fedora 9 and when I tried to reboot the machine will not boot. I have tried booting with the Win XP cd in the drive and with the Fedora DVD in the DVD drive. I have diconnected the power from the drive and tried booting from each. I get the same result: power comes on but no boot activity. The lights on the keyboard blink, the drives make a little noise and then nothing.

Try resetting all the connections and also disconnect the power cable from the back of the computer and hold down the button for 10 seconds and start the system that should work

I have a packard bell desktop computer and i would like to make it boot from cd 1st so i can fix my windows

you need to change boot order in your bios. when you boot check at bottom of screen to see what you need to press to enter bios, you may need to fast. It will probably be F1 or F2 or delete. once in bios got to boot order and put cd drive first.

Hi .... I tried to plug in an external USB drive that had previoulsy been attached to my PVR. Runnign Win 7 Ultimate. Got message about an INITIO driver being installed and then the drive access light...

is the usb drive still attached? if so, unplug it from the pc and see if this fixes the boot issue. If so, you most likely have your bios set up to boot from usb first. You can either change this order or remove the usb drive every time you reboot.

Hello

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

IDE will try to boot first when pluged in, sata will not boot. I think there is a adjustment in the BIOS setting to have the SATA boot first

I want to istall a new Hard drive, and I want to

Assuming you don't already have a second drive with an OS loaded then you will just need a boot disk or a Windows XP installation disc. Install the drive and then insert the CD. Power the PC on with the disk in the drive an you should get a message to boot from CD, just answer yes (note: the PC may boot automatically off the CD). If this doesn't work then you will probably have to go into the bios and change the boot order to make the CD as the first boot source. Entering the bios is different on each PC so, you will just have to find out the key sequence, usual buttons are ESC, F2, or CTRL+DEL.

Computer has a virus. Want to format drive and reintall windows but when I try to read cd off of desktop the pointer becomes busy and sort of freezes any operation.

If you plan to reformat the hdd, just boot the unit off the cd. you may have to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order so that it accesses the cdrom first. In most HP systems you can access the BIOS setup by hitting f10 key during the boot stage.

I have a s3100n hp slim line pavillion and thru hp tech support was advised to do a system recovery. when i tryed to reboot my system some programs were missing and they hp said that i need the recovery...

You must go into the BIOS on boot up and choose to boot from CD-Rom instead of the hard drive. When you first turn on your machine and the HP comes up push F10 key to get into the BIOS. Look for boot priorities and put the CD/DVD Rom in the first boot position (directions on how to move these item up/down are at the bottom of the page)

Then your disks will be useful. Put one in and reboot. It should read you disc and follow instructions from there.

Hope this helps you, good luck

HP PAVILION a305w

try getting into the bios and setting it to boot normally, turn off fast booting if its an option thats on, also, set your CD drive as the first boot devioce, then hard drive. Save and reboot, have CD in drive and just start hitting the F10 key as soon as it starts up, usually you hear a Beep when it detects that you are hitting the key for the boot options. HP pavilions where made to start and skip through the Post Process quickly to limit waitnig time, of course this sux when you want to boot from a cd.

You could try remove ing the BIOS Battery off the board and unplugging the system, wait a minute for it to discharge and put it back in, power it up and see if it lets you boot from CD.

Your bassically resetting the BIOS to factory defaults.

Also, i dont recomend buying HP Pavilions. i wokred on three seperate ones that a customer thought was a New machine ( this was back in 2001 ) but all the parts where 1995 parts, which means wghen they tried to upgrade to windows XP, XP doesnt have any generic drivers for hardware that old so nothing worked and yuo cant find any driver online that are that old.

Good luck anyway.
