The file does not exist in the specified location

I made a new North American template. No change
I copied the template from another computer. No change still doesn't work
I can click on the template in the program folder and S&T launches normally.
I have reinstalled the program and before I reinstalled it, deleted all
references to S&T in the registry. Still get the error message.
I created a shortcut from the New North American template and placed it on my
desktop. S&T launches normally from it.
I personally think there is a screwup in my operating system somewhere
caused by the update to revision 2 of WindowsXP Pro since as I previously
stated ,I have the same problem with Wordpad.
Thanks for the advice.

Hmm, maybe reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows while drastic is
probably the most promising remedy in this situation.

Hmm, how do you start S&T, via the desktop icon? Maybe that link
itself has become corrupt. If you are somewhat knowledgeable about
Windows, try the following:

--- begin instructions to create new S&T desktop icon ---
Launch Explorer e.g. by pressing "Windows"-E (where "Windows" is the
Windows key on your keyboad - use like a shift key, that is pretend
you want to create an uppercase E, but hold down the Windows key
instead of the Shift key :-).

Find your C: drive (or wherever you installed S&T), open "Program
Files\Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007".

Right-Click on "Streets.exe", select "Create Shortcut".

Right-Click the newly created shortcut, select "Cut".

View your desktop by pressing "Windows"-D.

Right-Click (empty space on) your desktop, select "Paste".

See if the newly created icon for S&T ("Shortcut to Streets.exe")
works better than the old one. If yes, delete old one, rename new one
to your liking.

if that sounds complicated, try uninstalling and reinstalling S&T.

It doesn't say which file. There is a "New North American map.stt"
file templete present.
I'll delete it and make another.

I have the same problem beginning at the same time with Wordpad
program.

Hmm, does it say _which_ file can not be found in the specified
location?

You could try to recreate the default file by launching S&T, selecting
"File / Save As", selecting "Map Template" as file type, and saving to
"New North American Map.stt".
