The brush is no longer turning on the SEB236 Powerbrush for my Miele vacuum. I see the belt is about $9, I found diagrams for the Powerbrush and I'd like some guidance on how to replace the belt and clean the inside. If its not advised that I do this myself, approximately how much does it cost to get this done by a certified repair shop? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
If you take the sole plate off you will see the belt on the brushbar

Wish you had listed the model number of the vac and of the powerhead. The plug going into the cannister, is it pushed all of the way in, also same for the plug going into the hose end? You can hook up the powerhead plug to a/c and see if it runs, if it does, then it is ok. Unhook the hose and plug and hook up a/c to that plug end and see if the powerhead will run, if not maybe the switch on the hose handle has a problem. Otherwise you have a problem in the cannister. If this is brand new, then it has a warranty, take in for repair.

Will it power up without the hose attached? If it does then you have a clogged hose. If not, there is a circuit board by the motor that may be bad.

Yes, most likely the belt has stretch. Flat belts do this after a short time and need to be replaced when problems start with the brush roll not wanting to turn. Also check the brush roll, make sure that the ends turn freely, if not, then replace it also.

Miele S251i Plus Bagged Canister VacuumMiele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on,...
Hi,
I have the above canister vac, which after my son tried to vac the stairs, it rolled down the stairs on him, but still worked, after turned off/on. Then after turned off maybe 10-15 mins., stopped working when we tried the switch. My father in law is our fix it guy, but still having a problem with the switch. Is there a wiring guide we could look at?
Thank you!
ALevy
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You can try to call the factory for the Miele S251i schematics / wiring diagram @ the phone number and website listed below or I put a few pieces of information listed below that might help.
1. The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically
A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off automatically if it gets too hot. Some models have a warning light (triangle) which comes on to indicate that it has overheated. Allow the appliance to cool down for approx. 30 mins. and remove any blockages to the air path.
2. The "Change dustbag" indicator stays on even when a new bag has been inserted
To ensure the dustbag change indicator gives a correct reading, lift the floor nozzle or power head off the floor slightly to prevent the vacuum created in the suction tube from influencing the reading.
3. The exhaust filter indicator is red
Change the exhaust filter and then press "Reset" to switch off the indicator light.

Pull the head cover off to check the belt, if the belt is ok then it might be the power connection between the handle and the power head shaft. If the red light is on the power head, then its not the connection
because its getting power. Now some heads have a reset button on them, you could check this also.
With the cover off the power head, remove the belt, now turn it on, and be careful, but try to make the motor shaft spin, with one finger, because if it does start to spin you do not want to hurt your finger.
If the motor starts to spin, put the belt back on, if it does not spin again, the motor is too weak.
If it does not spin at all, the motor is bad.Hope this helps you,and you get it working.
