Timing belt probably slip or broken throwing off valve timing.if you getting fuel and spark more likely timing belt.timing belt need replacing every 60000 miles intervals.

Check the simplest first before going to examine further. In this case battery isnt the culprit, and fuel neither. The first thing if we are in this condition which can help, is to check cooling system ie: water in radiator. I had experienced it once. The second simple check is to check cranking sound. If no sound, then its will lead to some early conclusion, batt has no enuff power to crank.

Jeep 1996 Cherokee won't start!

Have you checked fuel pressure?

1999 Cherokee starts but won't keep running without giving it throttle.

Assuming everything is working correctly, you may have to drive it up to 50 miles for the computer to relearn the basic perimeters.
I think you can also turn the key on, open the throttle to wide open, then close it 2 or 3 times to reset the memory in the computer.
Not sure about Jeeps.

I have a problem with my 2004 impala 3.8 V6 I will drive down the road and it will randomly die and won't start back up. It will turn over and everything but won't start. But if you let it

Possibly a crankshaft position sensor had the same problem with one of my former vehicles. Be careful buying a new one though it is an electronic part and it is not returnable at most part stores. That is what it sounds like to me though.

Iwas driving my 1999 alero n it studdered for a second. I gave it some gas nand managed to drive one block before it died. I tried to start it but it won't start it turned over but that is all it did

Look for a light on the dash that says SECURITY after it doesn't start. These cars and many more GM's have had problems with the antitheft system. Parts in the system tend to fail and cause this "no start" situation. Symptoms range from stalling while driving, to starting for 1-5 seconds and then stalling. This link might help you if this ends up being your problem.

I was driving my 94 toyota p/u & it just died like it stopped getting gas. i think something may have come loose.any idea on what to check?

Check your battery and alternator connections for tightness. Does it crank over, but won't start? If it won't even crank over, then likely some connection did come loose, like an alternator connection, possibly your fusible link (near the battery).
If it does crank, but won;t start: You'll just have to start from scratch to find the problem. Try to determine if it's fuel or ignition-related. Check for spark at a plug wire. If you have spark, then ignition is not the problem. Check if your fuel pump works. When you turn key on, you should hear the pump buzz on for a couple of seconds. It should also be on when cranking and running, but you can only hear it, or should, when you first turn key to on. If your toyota has a schrader valve on the fuel rail (a valve for checking pressure-it looks like a typical air valve, like on your tire, but is for attaching a fuel pressure gauge) if it has one punch the center with a little screwdriver-gas should shoot out if you have any fuel pressure, If not, have your fuel pressure checked.good luck.

2001 chevy malibu. I filled up with gas this morning and didn't get very far and it died. Won't start back up. What could it be?

Hello! I'm not so certain that the filling of the tank and the fact that the engine died and won't start are related...Lets get a little background...Has the car been running poorly; Or was everything in tip top shape, and after filling the tank it quit? Is the Check Engine Light on now? Any idea how many gallons you pumped in; And the octane you used? And lastly, was it an often used gas station?

1999 pontiac grand prix, just sputtered out...thought it was out of gas, but put gas in and it still won't start. it triess to turn over, but does not click and all lights/radio come on. what is it?

make sure the battery is fully charged,, if the alternator isn't working right , everything is run off the battery for a short time, and it will just die , the lights and other functions like the radio require little voltage to work, so try that first, if it turns over fast ,, then you need to check for fuel, if the pump is weak, it could be not enough pressure to keep the car running
