Hi..Basically, I cannot see anything on the viewfinder when I press play. The LCD screen is just blank. It seems like the Video is not getting to the LCD at all. Would this be a circuitry fault or a head cleaning? Have you heard of this problem before? Thank you.

The cleaning seems to have worked but now the LCD has a greenish tint to it when watching video. Is there a color adjustment for the LCD? Thanks.

If you see live view in view finder or LCD in camera mode then view finder and LCD are just fine.
Now you can not see video in playback mode, here I need to know do you see on-screen display like battery icon etc in viewfinder and LCD?
If yes then its dirty video head problem and requires cleaning as told you above.

Please use good quality video head cleaning tape and clean video head as it seems dirty / clogged.
    Thanks.

Just bought the exact one from a yard sale for 20 bucks. Had the very same problem with the blue screen on playback. What i did is replace the battery in the small bay when you open the viewfinder. Try playing your tape again and it will work!

Sony TVR68 camcorder--Playback mode works fine. In camera mode, I have no image in eyepiece or LCD screen

Hi obx4ever, If this helps, the CCD was a problem I had in a lot of those camcorders and only replacement cured the problem. Only a sony authorized service centre will be able to replace the CCD for you. The CCD is a closed coupled device which generates the image that you see in the eyepiece and LCD screen when in picture mode. Michael.

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV87 Hi-8...

I am having the same problem. When I hit Rewind or Fast Foward, i can see the image moving clearly.
When I hit play though, I just get a BLUE screen with the Play arrow displayed. So it's playing, I just got a blue screen. And last night, I got the blue screen but I could hear the audio.
Then I put a head cleaning tape in the camera, and I did get the picture back on for a little bit.
Skip to this morning, and we are back to the Blue screen again. Only this time, I am getting no audio. And I the head cleaning tape back in but it's not helping anymore.

Black lcd screeen on my sony handycam

first check the iris of the camera if it is opening, you will see this when you look inside the lens of the camera when you turn on and off the switch at camera mode if the iris is opening....if the iris is ok the second problem may occurs of your camera is the ccd image sensor....go to a sony service center for replacing that...i know it is free for replacing that sensor cause that is the recall product not only on sony but in other brand because the manufacturer of their sensor is only one company....
