When putting in Forza Motorsport 3 the console makes a lound noise, like the fan is on overtime when reading disc a lot louder than other games. Tried other games after and just low hum. Is it the...

Likely that for some reason the Xbox is having a hard time reading the disc and it is spinning the drive trying to search for files on the disk. If you aren't having the same issue with other games then recommend to resolve this issue then simply install the game onto your hard drive and the game will then only need to be accessed for verification only and the game will be played off your hard drive and not your disk drive. Here are the instructions for insalling a game to your hard drive:
Install Xbox 360 games on your hard drive from a game disc Note Installing an Xbox 360 game on a hard drive requires between 4 and 8 gigabytes (GB) of free disc space.
  1. Insert the game disc into the disc drive.

Note After you insert the disc, the default option is to automatically start the game. If the game starts, exit the game, and return to the Xbox Dashboard.

  2. From the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox.
  3. Select the game you want to install.
  4. Press Y on your controller.
  5. Select Install to Hard Drive.

A progress indicator appears while your game is being installed on your hard drive.
  • Installing an Xbox 360 game might take several minutes.
  • Multidisc game? Install each disc to your hard drive.
Play a game from your hard drive
  1. Insert the game disc into the disc drive.
  2. Go to My Xbox, and select the name of the game you want to play.
Note The game disc must be in the disc drive, even though you have installed the game on your hard drive. The console will automatically play the game from your hard drive, but the disc has to be present.

Hi im trying to use my wii but it keeps saying unable to read disc , why do you think this is ?

Hi there!
When your Wii is having issues reading discs, there could be a number of problems:
  1. game disc is dirty or scratched
  2. disc drive is dirty
  3. the disc is entered into the drive incorrectly
  4. the disc is a game from another region (i.e. trying to play a European PAL gam on and American NTSC Wii
  5. the disc is not a supported Wii or Gamecube disk
  6. the disc drive is broken
  7. the game disc you are using is a counterfeit or burned game
Please try follow the following:
  1. if the game disc is dirty, clean the disc with a soft cotton cloth, scratches can usually be repaired at a local blockbuster or Gamestop if they are light
  2. if the disc drive is dirty you will need to use a cd drive cleaner, you can find them for under $10 at most stores
  3. make sure the disc is entered into the drive correctly, the blank/shiny side of the disk should be facing towards the power button
  4. if the game disc you are using is from a different region of your system (PAL and NTSC) you will NOT be able to play it on your system, please return it and purchase a copy of the game for your region
  5. Make sure you are using a supported Wii or Gamecube disc
  6. counterfeit or burned games will not work on your Wii
  7. if none of these are correcting your problem you most likely have a broken disc drive and will need to either return your Wii for a new one or have it repaired.
Hope this helps!

Our playstation 3 does not read any game disc's but we can still access the hard drive?

Since the disc drive and hard drive aren't linked, the disc drive can fail while still allowing you to access all the data on your PS3.

Unfortunately, if the disc reading problems continue, there's very little you can do about it yourself. It's possible the lens reading the discs has becomes smudged. You can try a disc cleaner to see if it helps.

If not, you will likely have to send it in for repairs, which may be expensive. Make sure you backup your saves and other files to a USB drive before sending it. Good luck!

The discs won't get go into the playstation3

If your ps3 disc drive still makes sound maybe the top lid of the disc drive is not in the correct spot. Have you opened it before? Thats how the disc drive will get out of line. If you havent opened it before it might just need a good cleaning and lubricated. How to fix it if its out of line is to take ps3 lid off take disc drive lid off hook it up and place a cd in it and let the drive accept the disc then put everything back together with the disc in the disc drive. Now it should work right.

My 360 only plays cds or dvd s wont play games please advise

Step 1: Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc. Clean your disc 1. Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. 2. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. Note Do not use solvents to clean the disc. 3. Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your console and see if the disc plays. If the disc still does not play, try step 2. Step 2: Try other discs Try other discs to determine whether the problem happens with any disc or only with this particular disc. If multiple game discs, DVDs, or CDs will not play: 1. Make sure the media type and the disc region code are compatible with the console. 2. If the problem happens with several discs of different types (games, DVDs, and CDs), skip to “Step 7: Request a repair” below. If a specific game disc will not play: 1. Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base to determine if the game title has any known problems. 2. Make sure the media type and the disc region code are compatible with the console. If the disc you are using has a region code that is compatible with your console but you still cannot play the disc, try step 3. Step 3: Clear your system cache If your Xbox 360 console can’t play multiple game discs, try clearing your system cache. Here’s how: 1. On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings. 2. Select Memory. 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. 4. Select Clear System Cache.
Note If Clear System Cache is not available, use the button sequence described in the following article: 971755 How to clear the Xbox 360 console cache 5. Try to play a game disc. If you still can’t play a game disc, try step 4. Step 4: Remove the hard drive If the problem only happens with game discs, let’s try temporarily removing your hard drive. If your Xbox 360 console does not have a hard drive, skip to step 5. 1. Turn off your console. 2. Locate the hard drive on your console. 3. Press the release button on the hard drive and lift the hard drive from the console. 4. Turn on your console. 5. Try to play a game disc.If this step resolves the problem, reattach the hard drive and contact Xbox support to order a replacement hard drive. If this step resolves the problem, reattach the hard drive and contact Xbox support to order a replacement hard drive. If you still can’t play game discs, try step 5. Step 5: Disconnect memory units 1. Turn off your console. 2. Unplug any memory units attached to your console. 3. Turn on your console. 4. Try playing a game. If this step resolves the problem, reattach the memory units and contact Xbox support to order a replacement memory unit.

The disc reader will not spin any discs. What to

If you have never opened the console then it can be 3 things
1 Connection to the DVD drive has came loose
2 The laser Lens is bad
3 1 of the 2 motors in the drive could be bad.

If the disc will not spin then it would me a loose power connection to the dvd drive, or the motor that spins the disc is bad. All parts in the dvd drive can be changed. But never change the whole drive without takeing the board out of the old drive and put in the new drive. If you do then all it will be is a expensive paper weight. Because there is a security number in the motherboard that must match the one injected in the DVD drive. I repair these problems often with 99% success.

The ps3 disc inst inserting

if the drive is not taking the disc, then make sure there already isn't a disc in the drive.

If there is a disc in the drive eject it out.

If there is not a disc in the drive and its just not taking discs then the drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

Disc drive won't work

Alright, this means that your disc drive went out.... the part runs approximate 50 bucks off of ebay... that includes shipping and handling... YES! model # for disc drive must be EXACTLY the same... it will say right on your disc drive what kind you need.... For a tutorial on taking your xbox 360 apart... go to this link: .. Alright after that.... DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR OTHER DISC DRIVE... YOU WILL NEED IT!. or at least the chip from the inside.. This video shows you exactly what to do with your new and old disc drive.: . I had this exact same issue and it works wonders now. you see the chip in your old disc drive has memory for your specific xbox ... since each is unique... GOOD LUCK! :D

Xbox 360 disc drive

To april23

what has most likely happened is that the magnet which holds disks in place has dis-lodged and is now stuck to the roof of the dvd drive. Unfortunately the only way to resolve this would be to open up the xbox 360 and open up the dvd drive to fix.

So if you're not confident at this or in doubt in any way I'd contact Microsoft first if it's still under warranty, if not then it's a case of opening up the drive yourself I'm afraid.

Note. Does the drive attempt to spin up when you put a disk in?

Or does it just make small noises then nothing except "open tray" on screen?
