Get a small flat headed screw driver and prise it open, although i wouldn't recommend that unless its the only option.

(Two small screwdrivers might work better, try both.)
Good luck,
Ben

My x box door will not open

On the front of the disc drive door (you may have to remove the small plastic cover) you will see a small pin-sized hole, this is the manual release for the disc drive. find something that will fit and about 4 inches long, with firm pressure push on the mechanism (it is hidden) and your drive will unlock and allow to pull it open.

Manually eject the disc tray
  1. Disconnect the power cord and any other cables connected to the console.

  2. Uncoil a paper clip.

  3. Position the console horizontally, as you would position a DVD player.
  4. Find the yellow sticker behind the vents on the left side of the console.
  5. Insert the straight end of the paper clip into the eject hole which is located just above the yellow sticker (as shown in the picture below).

    odd-paperclip.jpg

  6. The disc tray should pop out slightly. Pull the tray out the rest of the way with your fingers.

Note If a disc is in the tray, make sure that it is not sticky and does not have a label that might prevent the tray from opening again in the future.

hi there,
it sounds like the drive is jammed a little bit or may have been knocked off it's track slightly. the only way to fix this is by opening up the console and then opening the drive and see what the problem is. I just hope that your son has not damaged the laser in the process, this could be why it's not reading the discs. the only way to know for sure is to open it up and see. if you are willing to do so yourself, you will find plenty guides on the net(youtube etc..) to open it up and the drive. If you do not want to do so yourself you will have to send back to nintendo or local repair shop. hope this helps.

The discs won't get go into the playstation3

If your ps3 disc drive still makes sound maybe the top lid of the disc drive is not in the correct spot. Have you opened it before? Thats how the disc drive will get out of line. If you havent opened it before it might just need a good cleaning and lubricated. How to fix it if its out of line is to take ps3 lid off take disc drive lid off hook it up and place a cd in it and let the drive accept the disc then put everything back together with the disc in the disc drive. Now it should work right.

How to get a disc out that is stuck

Try this way of getting the disc out:

Turn off your PS3 from back (the main off button) Put your finger on the eject button and once you do, push the switch at the back to switch the PS3 on, and then push the eject button. Hold it like this for fifteen to thirty seconds, or until the drive is forced open. The disc should come out now.

If it doesn't then you'll need to open up your ps3, then open up the disc drive manually. To do it its located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHS07EFGZ3g

the drive is on the left, it unplugs then you need a small phillips head screwer to take off the top of the drive and then you can remove the disc. Then put the screws back and then go ahead and plug the drive back in and the put the ps3 back together.

looks like they took the drive apart when a disc was inserted and put the drive back together in disc in mode

there are 2 little white pedals that pop up when its in "disc in" mode the only way to fix it is to take the drive apart and manually move it to "disc ejected" mode

to do that, when the drive is apart you have to take of the little peice with the cd guide wheels then open the wheels and you will see a gap in the middle of where the little metal bars open up and the little white pedals fit through then just hit eject and they should lower now. put the drive back together and test it b4 you put the whole system back together.

Disc dive out of blown up xbox

If the tray does not open when you press the eject button, then manually open it to retrieve your game disk as below.

1. Unplug your Xbox console from the power source.

2. Find the manual release button, ususally located in a small pinhole to the left of the eject button under the disc tray.

3. Insert a straightened paper clip or other small tool in the hole at an angle to the left. Gently push the paper clip to try to press the manual release button and partially open the disc tray. This may take several tries. Typically, a thin paper clip works better than a thick paper clip.

After the disc tray partially opens, pull the tray with your fingers to fully open the tray.

******** If you insert the paperclip in the hole and find an obstacle, this indicates that your Xbox console's manual release button is located in a different area of the console.*******

Look under the "O" or the "B" in the word "XBOX" that appears on the tray. If this is the case, insert the paperclip under the "O" as outlined above. If you find an obstacle, insert the paperclip under the letter "B”. The manual release button is located in one of these three locations.

Well it won't read any disc and the tray keeps opening and closeing

Does it say it keeps opening and closing or does it literally open and close if so its probably something wrong the motor acting or somthing inside of the disc drive if thats the case then i'm sorry to say but you might have to get a new disc drive. If your 360 is under warranty send it into microsoft if its not under warranty go online and find a disc drive but make sure its the same one you have currently inside of your 360.

Have you ever had to replace that disc drive before or no?
if so then your disc drive is the wrong one for that 360
