What do you mean by rx? Are you talking about recieve gain?

If you want to hear stations from further away, have you considered your antenna set up? This is after all, the part which "grabs" the received signal for you.

What type of antenna do you have? What type of coax / feeder?

On a Galaxy DX 2547 CB radio there are two RF knobs. One says RF power, this is your TX power control, turn clockwise to increase. There is another knob that is a knob within a knob that says Mic(inner knob) and RF( outer knob) the outer knob is your RX rf gain so to speak. Turn it clockwise to increase receive sensitivity. The Mic (inner knob) is your mic gain.

Is there a dial marked RX Gain? Does this radio have this feature?

How close is your buddy to you? Dont compare what he can hear with what you can hear. Have you checked your SWR reading? Is the antenna resonant on the frequency you want to use?

ok, what do you mean "he can hear better than me" ? Do you mean stations from further away? or are you both hearing the same stations and he is recording a better signal on his meter?

Are you working local stations or DX (distance)?

When you use radio you are communicating with AUDIO (mouth and ears)

    NOT VISUAL (eyes)

When you hear another station, grab the RX gain control and close your eyes! Now try turning up and down and LISTEN. When it sounds good your job is done.

    Forget what the meter says!

Also, that radio has a VFO (variable frequency occilator), and not set channels like a conventional CB. So double check that you are spot on frequency.

    How old is your radio?

There is a good chance that, with age, it has drifted off scale. Which baisicly means that when you have 27.500 00 on the screen, you could be closer to 28.000 00!

Turn your RX gain right down.

Have your buddy transmit on a set frequency like 27.000 00 for 2 or 3 minuites on his lowest power output.

Set your radio to 27.000 00 also.

Read the meter. Try to get the needle OFF full scale and aim for half way. Do this by turning the RX gain up and down.

Now tune up and down in frequency and see where the needle peaks.

If it peeks anywhere apart from 27.000 00 then the radio needs re-allignment

Try that and let us know!

I WANT TO BUY A GALAXY 2547 CB RADIO. I FOUND ONE AND IT SAYS EXPORT USE ONLY . WHAT DOES IT MEAN, CAN I USE IT. THANKS

Normally, this radio will only work on CB frequencies. I suspect the radio has been modified to get channels below and above the regular 40. If so, the radio is no longer type-accepted by FCC. It is unlikely you would get into trouble using the radio.

under warranty that would be cover no charge.! send it in.. The clarifier on a factory radio will only adjust the RX.. not the TX.. unless there's a "course and fine." the course would do both. the fine would be rx only

Galaxy dx 2547

Hi Joey,
It sounds to me that the power supply you are using may be a little under powered. It's not really a bad problem as long as the voltage doesn't drop below about 10.5 - 11 volts. As for the Galaxy. I'm not real certain of the question but a Galaxy will usally use more current to make it work properly, so I would suggest a bigger ( more amps ) power supply.
Good Luck and I hope this has helped some
