if you have a CDMA then you will have to contact your mobile service provider and have them unassigned the number but if it is a gsm phone then just take out the simcard.

SOURCE: How do I remove the Sim card from a Motorola Razr

hello
these are the steps to remove a sim card from motorola RAZR
step 1. Turn off your cellular phone by pressing and holding the power key for two seconds.
Step 2. Remove the battery on the back of the phone by sliding it back and lifting gently.
Step 3. Identify the SIM card, which is under the battery area. A retention strap holds it in place. Don't stretch the retention strap. Slide the SIM card slowly back, up and out of the slot.
Step 4. You may now use the SIM card in another phone, or insert a new SIM card into the Motorola RAZR

PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Key. This is a uniqueeight-digit code specific to your SIM card. This is required when the PINnumber to unlock your mobile phone is entered incorrectly 3 times. You are thengiven 10 attempts to enter your PUK code. If an incorrect PUK code is enteredafter the 10th attempt, you will block your SIM card permanently and willrequire a new SIM card from your mobile phone provider.
PUK codes can be obtained through the following ways - The PUK code is in your SIM card documentation Starter Pack.If you do not have this then -Please contact your phone service provider.
Your cell phone service provider can give you the PUK code once you give themyour account details and they have confirmed your identity.

Deleting phone book entries

Hi cburke. Had this same problem. go to the phonebook, scroll to the number you want to delete and then press menu. it will take you to the edit screen then select delete, or whatever you want to do with the number. Simple really, but instructions with this phone are awful.
