Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I have an old Denon DCD 520 CD player. Have not used it for years. Just hooked it up againg and now it skips forward and back while playing. Any thought on why? Thanks Bob
I have had a similar problem with my Denon DCD-520, the laser current needed adjusting with a watchmakers screw driver, try turning it a quarter clockwise turn and see if the problem is fixed.

Hopefully, it may just need cleaning and lube.
I have a Denon DCM-460 purchased from Goodwill a couple days ago and had problem with one CD-R skipping and stuttering toward the end.
Cleaned the CD which helped a little but still started skipping and stuttering.
Noticed a scratch toward the outer end which I suspect is where the problems occurred.
Anyway, last night I cleaned laser, rails, lubed spindles and moving parts. I used 99.9% alcohol to clean. I used a light teflon oil (Tri-Flow) to lube spindles and rails. And white electronic grease where you see remnants of white grease.
Today, I now played through the problem CD-R with no problems.
Assuming placement is level and stable, certainly worth a try and the effort.
