Hi!

To replace the Brush Belt:

You will need a Phillips head screwdriver.

1. Turn the machine OFF and unplug from the wall outlet.

2. Step on the release pedal to lay the handle down on the floor.

3. Remove the Tank-in-Tank and SmartMix Bottle and set them aside.

4. Turn the machine over to expose the brush.

5. Look for the red retainers, which hold the black brush arms and gear-type brush belt in place. Unscrew the two Phillips head screws. Set these parts aside.

6. Loop the replacement brush roll belt around the brush end and the red pulley with the ridges.

7. Alternate holding each brush arm in place while replacing the red retainers.

8. Replace the Phillips head screws and turn until snug.

9. Turn the machine right side up to replace the Tank-in-Tank and SmartMix Bottle.

Thanks

If you turn it upside down you should find several screw holes . they are phillips head screws. you have to take the bottom of the machine off to get to the brush and removing the screws will allow you to do so. once the bottom is off you can pull the old brush and put in the new one

it may be broken you wouldnt know unless you go to change out the brush as you are doing.you might want to invest in a new one rather than try to find parts for this one.

if there is a piece missing or broken then you need to replace the machine.it stands to reason that if its broken to replace it

Removing sock stuck in my upright Simplicity Freedom Vacuum. I removed brush cover and can grip the sock, but cannot pull it out.

Take off the brush cover. Gently grip the sock with your fingers or a pair of pliers.
Pull the sock out in the direction opposite to the rotation of the roller brush.
If the sock is tightly wedged, you may need to wiggle it back and forth while pulling..
After removal, check for damage. If the brush bristles are bent or worn, consider replacing the roller brush.
Reassemble and Test following the manual instructions.

Hoover Windtunnel model U6485200B troubleshooting brush not spinning

Hi! The brush-roll feature needs to be engaged for the belt to tighten, so when checking the belt it will appear to be loose. Be sure you have replaced both belts on the vacuum with genuine Hoover parts. This unit takes belt 38528034 and 38528035. Also, make sure the vacuum is on carpet mode. Follow the link to view the instruction manual which provides instructions and illustrations on changing the belt to be sure it is assembled properly.

I have model#UD40350 total pet compact. The lower vacuum brushes don.t turn.

Hi! It sounds like you have a broken or stretched belt. The belt controls the brush roll. If you are using the vacuum on carpet, you need the brushes to spin to agitate the carpet fibers. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to replace your belt. I have also included a link to the instruction manual if needed.

1. Lay cleaner flat and flip to expose nozzle base. To remove nozzle guard, use Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.
2. Lift and remove brush roll and dispose of old belt if you see one.
3. Slide belt (style 19) onto motor shaft.
4. Place new belt on area of brush roll without bristles.
5. With new belt in place, pull and slide brush roll into nozzle making sure that the brush roll end caps are in the correct orientation.
6. Replace all screws to replace nozzle guard.

Vacuum brushes won't turn. It still has suction.

That means that you need to replace the belt that turns the roller brush. They naturally stretch and wear and you should replace this belt yearly. Here is the belt you need and the manual which has instructions on how to change it:

Wish to remove bottom ofpowerhead-Kenmore Progressive 11629912990

I have a whispertone vacuum, different model #, but maybe instructions will be the same. Turns out I didn't need a new belt, just clean out the crud and reset overload protector. The instructions in the manual tell you to remove the light cover and bulb first. To do this, press in and lift both sides. Push in and turn bulb counterclockwise to remove. (you need to do this because the next step involves turning the unit over). This takes you to
Step 2. Unscrew the cover screws ( on either side of bulb).
Step 3. Turn unit over. To remove cover, insert screwdriver at cover tabs on both sides and twist to release tabs.
Step. 4 Turn unit right side up. Press handle release pedal and lower the swivel. Tilt cover forward from back until front snaps free.
Step 5. Carefully insert and twist screwdriver at each brush support to free brush from base.
Step 6. Remove worn belt.
Step 7. Slide brush supports off to check and clean brush support areas.

To replace belt: slide washers and brush supports onto brush assembly.
Install new belt over motor drive, then over brush sprocket.
Snap brush supports into place on base. Be sure brush supports are not upside down.
Line up front of cover and base. Rest cover on front edge of base. Tilt cover to back. Press cover firmly until side tabs snap into place. Replace cover screws, light bulb and light cover.
