Question about Mitsubishi WT-46809 46" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi WT-46809 Powers Off; Code 2-2

My Mitsu 46809 powers on, the off in abot 2 seconds. Error code is 2-2. Fuses FA904 (125V, 5A-- 24V supply?), and FA905 (125V, 5A-- neg 24V supply) are open. These are on the middle board with the convergence ICs, etc.

I've got the board out now. I replaced the convergence IC's back in July 2007, but that time there were no blown fuses. Is this the same problem, or am I looking at a new dog here?

I'm a 30 year electronics tech (Air Force retired), with full equipment. Any tech advice would be greatly appreciated. I've got a lot more technical ability than I've got money- ha! If I can save this gal one more time, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!!!

The 2 fuses you mentioned are associated with the convergence IC. If they are open then the convergence IC is either bad or you have a "cold" solder joint on the IC.

What component makes the loud click when you power on certain electronic devices?

the click is the relay which clicks when the set is powered on or off. Your model should store an error code when it shutsdown or wont start up. Have you tried accessing the self diagnosis feature to retreve the error code through the power indicators two digit blink sequence? If so whats the blink code your receiving?

Tv WONT STAY ON

When the power light comes on and then goes off perform the self check feature the model you indicated has:

On the front of the press and hold both the MENU and INPUT (DEVICE) BUTTONS both for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

The green power light should blink a two digit error code--most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

When I turn on my tv it will shut off

Model number is WT-46809?

If set comes on for a moment and then goes off(green power light)

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS BOTH menu AND input at the same time and hold both buttons in for at least 5 seconds---then release both buttons.

Watch the power light---it should blink a two digit code---ERROR CODE---
The most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks-----set will repeat the error code about 10 times.

If you find this error code let me know the blinks and I will tell you what it means and may be able to tell you what is needed to correct it.

WT 46809

22 is a error code for a short protect which is triggering shutdown . Try unplugging the crt circuit boards and seeing if the fuses still blow when you press power.

Television automatically turns off after a couple seconds

there are 2 fuses -24v and 24 v normally would go out because
covergence ics failled . That would be a shutting down problem cased by missing those voltages.so you would need to replace those 5A (small green fuses) , you would need some kind of soldering and unsolderin skill) and the ics are stk392 570.two also. open the set from the fron ,taking speaker grill off and then the wood board behing (4-6 screws) you the the board in the center big metal heatsink. you would need to work from the back to repace those puppies.hdtvman
