Does your computer have the SD card reader built in? If so put it in there and go into my computer to make sure its reading your card. If it is seeing your sd card then go to this link to find out how to add the moonshell software to your SD card so your DS can play videos.

My ds freezes when loading the R4, or it says that there is no game in the ds slot

Stuck on Loading Screen This usually indicates that the software kernel on the micro sd memory card has become corrupted. It can also happen if the micro sd memory card is overloaded with games, music and video files etc. The solution is to reinstall the kernel software on the micro sd card and ensure the micro sd memory card is not overloaded. Leave about 25% memory free.
download SDformatter and format the sd card with that, place all the files on there, none in folders..
  • Download the correct software kernel from the manufacturers website
  • Unzip the files using a suitable programme such as Win Zip or 7 Zip.
  • Open the folder containing the unzipped files and copy the 4 files (Moonmemo, Moonshl2, R4iMenu and R4.dat) to the root of the memory card.
  • At this point put the memory card into your R4 card. Start your console and ensure the R4 card is operating correctly.
  • You may have to run an upgrade file at this point

R4 for nintendo ds lite does not work

Make sure that you have the latest firmware installed in your R4 micro SD card. You can get the latest firmware here:
http://en.r4ds.me/kernel/English-1.18.rar

After downloading, extract the .rar file. Copy "_DS_MENU.DAT" and "_DS_MSHL.NDS" to the root directory of your micro SD (ex: E:\ or F:\),
To play games, simply copy the games you have downlaoded to the root directory also.

Nothing sees my R4DS card!

Yes,

First you need to make sure you format your Micro-SD card in Windows to FAT32 format. Then load the latest software files onto your micro-sd card. You can get these from http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4ds.html

Then in the root directory of the MicroSD card, make a folder called "Games" (without the ""s) and place your .nds backup files/ROMs in the Games folder.

Ds lite will not play video files

Hi George,

Firstly may i suggest you put R4 firmware 1.18 on the micro sd card as it is much more stable (link: http://www.r4dscart.com/r4-software.html).

The moonshell you are using should be correct however, i am comfused by the .dpgm1v extension as i have only ever used files with the .dpg extension.

Have you tried downloading a .dpg movie and trying that in moonshell? Just a suggestion.

Please let me know how you get on. Will be happy to assist further if needed.

Good luck,

Karlos

If you set it up correctly with the .dat file from the site and all the other stuff then you need to put your micro sd card into your computer and make a folder called audio or whatever. Then drag your mp3s into that folder. When you boot up the edge card you should see 3 icons. Select the middle one and it will start moonshell. Through moonshell you should go to your folder and press A to start your song.

Unable to read DS micro SD card games

Have you installed Moonshell onto the micro-SD card? It has to be there to see the games. If you have Moonshell installed, you should be able to navigate to where you stored your files. Your adapter should have come with a CD with Moonshell on it or you can download a newer version on the internet.
