Have you tried the Unicom website?

    Hello costos5350.

Sorry you felt my answer was inappropriate. It was not clear from your answer whether you had looked there or not for anyone to know if you had tired anything other than just asking the question.

I found the website, and sure enough, the driver for your card is not there. Their website is www.unicomlink.com, IF you don't have it. If you don't find the drivers, I would suggest emailing them.

I suspect that you can use a generic driver to get the card going. Once you can get the computer online, maybe you use Device Manager to update the drivers for the card (if they happen to be registered with Microsoft.).

And if you would, please rate my response. I have made an honest attempt to get the information you requested.

My Ethernet went bad so I took out the old card and installed a Zonet 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Adapter. I now have a bouncing ball showing that the network is trying to "acquire network address"...

You need to intall the driver of that card first an the intall the card. If not go to My Computer right click on Properties and Divice maneger, network adapter, find the card, right click and update driver. Leaves the disk on the drive.

Is there a driver in your kernel for this card? If not, you'll have to try and get one online and compile it yourself.

Dell Ethernet Network Adapter not being recognised

i) Click on Start button ---->Select option Control Panel------>Select Network Connections----->
a new window appears showing the "internet connections icon " Such as:

Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3 and since you are not connected it will show this icon as:

eg1:  Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3
        Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled
        VIA compatible Fast Ethernet

in this case u can download VIA network drivers....from internet..

                      or

       eg2: Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3
       Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled

in this u can download "Realtek RTL8139" network drivers.... from internet(which is showing              model no: RTL8139 through google search engine )

                                         (OR)

ii)        Click Start button ---->Select RUN option ----> type in the text box devmgmt.msc --->Select                Network Adapters....

but this will show wheter ur network adapter or NIC is VIA or Realtek or......but does show the             correct Model NO: of VIA or Realtek....

It'll ask you to either pay for the download via PayPal or click through a series of ads. Just keep clicking on through at the bottom of each ad and it'll eventually get you to the download.

If I find anything else I let you know.
