My whirlpool duet gas dryer will not heat

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

No heat, no flame, temperature based high heat

if the dryer doesn't shut off you need a new timer. have you replaced the igniter or glow coil? it needs to glow white not orange in order to ignite the gas.

My gas dryer won't heat but will run it's a duet and i changed the glow plug or igniter

Since you replaced the ignitor and if it is operating normally, it should glow visibly. If the ignitor is operating properly and the burner is not lighting, then I would look at faulty gas valve coils as being the problem. The coils are located right above the gas valves. These solenoids, when energized, open the gas valves. If they are faulty, the gas valves won't open and the burner won't light. Due to the difficulty in testing these coils, it is best when replacing them to replace both (all) of them at once. Hope this helped and best wishes.

I ran the drier 3 times using medium press. The heat is on and it is hot, but the clothes is not dry.

Hi, Does this dryer heat at first and then stop heating late in cycle?
Remove the lower front panel and start the dryer. Look and see if the ignitor glows and if you get a flame or not. If the ignitor glows and then shuts off before you get a flame, the coils on top the gas valve need changed.
If the ignitor does not glow, UNPLUG the dryer and check the fuse located on the blower housing (whits with two wires going to it). Check and see if it has continuity to it.If there is no continuity, change it.
Please let me know if this helps you so far.

Changed burner ignitor and still no heat, what next?

Hi, Normal 0 UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it. If there is no rear panel, remove the front lower half and you will see the fuse there on the blower housing. Most models have a sensor on the side of the burner for the ignition too. The fust is the most common problem.
However, if the ignitor glows, you will need to change the coils on top the gas valve.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Whirlpool gas dryer won't ignite -no heat

Try replacing the ignitor. The ignitor has to glow red and draw enough current to open the gas valve. When the gas valve opens then the ignitor lights the burner. Replace ignitor.

The easiest way i can tell you if it is an ignitor problem or a thermal fuse or something else is to turn the timer  to the timed section past 10-20 minutes then slowly turn the time back while the machine is running once you hit the last 5 minutes you should hear a click at the timer and at the gas valve. If you only hear a click at the  timer and not at the gas valve it is probably a thermal fuse and control thermastat. If you hear a loud click at the gas valve it could be a bad ignitor .If you see an orange glow but no heat or intermitant heat the coils on the gas valve may be at fault
