Question about Agri-Fab Agri - Fab Snow Blower - 42"

Open Question

I have a MTD 2 stage snowblower. How to I adjust the Auger cable? Also, just finished snowblowing and the engine lost its power. It stays running until I try to snow blow and soon as it takes in the snow it does not have enough power to shoot then it stails out. What do you think?

your shear pin(s) are broken on that side they will look o.k. but are snapped off inside drive them out with a large nail or center-punch,don't use a regular bolt to replace the shear pin as they will fit, because if it gets plugged again the gearbox will be your next expensive shear pin to replace

You are not getting fuel to the carb take it off and give it a good cleaning, paying attention to the small orifices. Many times on older units the float bowl screw on the carb has an orifice that is always the culprit give it a try . Good Luck

Hello Tal.... when it just stops working, check the belt or belts. Many snow blowers have two belt. Go to searspartsdirect.com

Enter your model number and you will get diagrams of this machine along with parts numbers. Be sure to use a craftsman belt for the repair. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

SOURCE: model 826 snowblower will start and run about 20

It sounds like its not getting enough fuel. Check for restriction in fuel line, clogged fuel filter or malfunctioning carburetor. Your choke could also be out of adjustment

I have a MTD snowblower yard machine.how to adjust

There should be metal shoes on the side of the snowblower. They have adjustment bolts that allow the auger housing to move up and down. loosen them and adjust to how close you want it to the ground. It also depends on the model. This process only applies to large self propelled models which are a two stage snowthrower. if its a small single stage there is usually no adjustment.

You probably have to take the carburetor apart and clean it using a spray type carburetor cleaner spraying the jets and small holes in it.

MTD Snowblower starts good but runs very rough

Carb adjustment. There is usually a HIGH and LOW fuel mixture adjustment on the carb. Sounds like the LOW needs to be adjusted. Do a search on the Internet for a service manual for your particular model/make. Simple job IF you have the manual there for guidance.
Good Luck

How can I keep my 2 stage snowblower in high?

I will assume you are referring to the 2 stages in the front of the machine. The spiral auger rakes are the first stage, they are designed to collect the snow and feed it to the impeller. The impeller is the 2nd stage and is to throw the snow up the chute. The lower rakes in the front do nopt throw snow only collect it.

Auger stopprd working on an MTD snowblower.

The manual has a step by step procedure for adjusting the cables for the auger, speed selector and drivewheels. One socket wrench and about 10 min should do it.

My Yardworks is an MTD product and it's manual should be similar to yours. If you lost it, you can download it from MTD's site.
