Attempted to install service pack 3 but received error message: C:\windows\system32\drivers\acpi\sys.

Hi Michelle,
This problem happens if you run "Alcohol 120%" and "DAEMON Tools" applications. If you don't have these apps installed follow the below step to fix this issue.
  1. Go google "Unlocker Assistance" and download the software (or the link is provided below), it's free and very useful program. This program can unlock or kill or delete any files that's being used, no matter what situation the file is on, it can unlock the file or kill the process which is using it. (The icon looks like a star magic wand, that's the right program)
Download the software below if you have trouble finding it. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/1029-unlocker.html
  2. After you install the program, then go in your My Computer, and right click on the C:\ and click on Search. Then find the keyword "atapi.sys" that the error message mentioned. You will see an icon that looks like a white sheet of paper, right click on that and choose "Unlocker" on the menu. I don't know if this would show up by default, but it should. After that a window should pop up showing you which program is currently using the file, I think it was "System". Now you need to click either on the "Unlock" or "Unlock All".
  3. After that, the "atapi.sys" file should be unlocked. Now, go back to the error message and you should see "Retry" or something like that, then just click on that. Viola, the process will continue on.

I purchased AVG but it didn't install properly so I cancelled the installation. Now how did I install the product I've already purchased? I have the license number.

Most probably it seems to be a low ram problem but you should match the specifications with your machine to find the culprit.
here are the specifications

Processor Intel Pentium 1.5 GHz Memory 512 MB RAM Hard disk free space (for installation) 750 MB HDD Recommended system requirements
Processor Intel Pentium 1.8 GHz Memory 512 MB RAM Hard disk free space (for installation) 1200 MB HDDI guess you lack something among them please verify them .
If you re still not able to resolve just comment with error message

Hi, I can't uninstall AVG 2011.An error has occurred in it(0xc0070643)

You could try the AVG Remover at the link below. I'd create a new System Restore point prior to using it. Just copy and paste the link in your browser and download your Remover tool

Hi i wounder if anyone can help, I installed AVG2011 over AVG9, but it did not work, so i tried uninstall it and it would not fully uninstall, so i tried reinstall it but it would not let me, it keeps...

I had faced the same problem a few day back and successfully solved. however, it involved many steps

1. Try to unstall AVG 2011
2. Use removal tool, and reboot if necessary
3. Install AVG2011 from another installer (NOT THE ONE YOU USED EARLIER)
OR
4. GOTO www.avg.com and download latest trial version and install

The above steps worked for me. hope this would help you...
looking forward to hear from you....

How to solve pci.sys error during reformating of the hard drive

You have two ways to solve the problem of "Pci.sys Is Missing or Corrupt"
Error Message When You Start Windows.

1.Booting with WinXP CD to access the Recovery Console’s Repair option,
and then copy from WinXP CD the missing or damaged Pci.sys file to
Systemdrive:\Windows\System32\drivers folder , Exit and Reboot.

start the recovery console and type:
set AllowAllPaths = true
expand d:\i386\pci.sy_ c:\windows\system\drivers32 /y
If you don't type
set AllowAllPaths = true you can't access the windows folder.

2. Booting with WinXP CD and then perform a Windows XP Repair Reinstall
of the currently installed system.

Unable to install avg8 free in windows 2000 prof sp-4

Hi,
Instead of installing AVG free, download & install Avira Antivir Personal Free. It is better compared to AVG in terms of virus detection 7 also very light on the system.

To download click here:
