Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR)

1 Answer

Unable to Set up Netgear Rangemax WPN824 Router. No set up CD

I have a Netgear Rangemax WPN824 Router but no set up CD. I have tried everything but I cannot access the Internet. I have run ipconfig and established the router is talking to the computer. I then open the internet explorer. But when I try and follow the setup wizard it just doesn't work. I have tried to reset the router, re-plug everything. Re-start. Nothing works. Any suggestions? My ISP is TalkTalk. Sometimes when the box pops up to ask for the username and password when I key in admin and password it won't accept it. I am a total novice so some basic instructions would really help. Thank you

Hello spyzampinoy,

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

Netgear WPN824 router

You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

Trying to install my Netgear Router to my PC and 2 playstations dont have the install CD anymore tho so cant set up easily how do I set it up without the CD MOdel WPN824 V2

You set the router up by using the web browser on your PC. (No CD needed).
The router has its own web server at address 192.168.0.1 or 092.168.1.1 (you don't need the www.)
It will ask for the log in and password which are (if they haven't been changed) admin and password.
Once past that you go top the set-up page and enter the info provided by your ISP (normally in a letter but sometimes it comes by text message to your mobile phone) and generally that is that.
Connect your playstations and the job should be done. (I don't use p[laystations so I don't know if they need anything special.)

The best way to make the wireless connection stable is to do some changes on the wireless settings of the router , like changing its wireless channel to the highest one to avoid any interference on your area.........
