In side yes smells like wiring burning

What is the smell? Like electrical wiring? And is it coming from inside the cooking chamber, or from the top?

I'm going to bet the high voltage transformer has failed. But it's going to take opening it up to determine.

This assuming the controller seams to work correctly.

Please reply with what you find, and I can help you to diagnose.

Chances are you have a bad magnetron.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

We recommend you have the microwave evaluated by an authorized service center.

Have ge profile spacesaver xl sensor. will not heat strange buzzing sound and burning smell. clock, light, vent still work

This is most likely a defective magnetron, especially with the burning smell. There are two other parts that can be a problem, the high voltage capacitor and diode, all three work together to heat food. If the magnetron is the culprit, probably cheaper to replace the microwave oven.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 does not heat. All other functions appear to be working normally, the light comes on and the turntable functions. When turned on, it makes a humming noise slightly louder than normal,...

Possible bad heating element, You should remove the cover of the unit and look at the heating element with the power off. Until you get your problem resolved I would recommend not to even turn it on due to the fact that you are unsure what is going on and you smelt some burnt smell. Just for safety until you fine the problem

It is not heating correctly, and has a burning smelling coming from it.

If your microwave oven isn't working very well in terms of heating food.. and you have a burning smell coming from it.. there is a good chance that the Magnetron tube has failed or is close to failing or the transformer that feeds it is failing.. The cost to repair may be higher than the cost to replace the entire Microwave so I would suggest you just consider purchasing another one.. Just my opinion.. Hope that helps...

The noise is coming from the high-voltage transformer being overloaded by something shorting it out. Either the magnatron or the high-voltage capacitor and diode. Replace the capacitor and diode then if still not working, replace the magnatron. Its only affordable if you do it yourself - buy the part on EBAY - lookup "universal magnatron"
Hope ya fix it!
