Hi How do i do sin inverse on my calculator. I have tried shift then sin (which is sin inverse) and then the sum but it gives the wrong answer?

You may be working in degrees when you need to be in radians, or vice versa.

Press the MODE button until it offers you the choice D R G (Degrees, radians, grads) and select the corresponding number. Then try again.

I have a Casio FX83ES Scientific Calculator and I am trying to work out 1 out of 1700 as a percentage using it. When I type in 1/1700 I get 1 over 1700. I press S<>D and then I get...

1÷1700 expressed as a decimal is 0.000588235, which is 5.882...×10^-4. [NB not 10^4]

To convert this to a percent, remember that "per cent" means "per 100" which also means "divide by 100". To keep the answer correct, if you are dividing by 100 you must also multiply by 100.

The get the answer in percent, you must therefore multiply the previous answer by 100 to get 0.00588235 percent. (or 5.882...×10^-2 percent).

How to work x-1 button keeps saying syntax error

The x^-1 button find the inverse of whatever value you put for x.

For example, if you input 2, the x^-1 button should give you 2^-1, or 1/2, which equals .5

Does this solve your problem?

HOW DO YOU PUT IN DEGREES AND MINUTES WHEN YOU ARE DOING TRIGONOMETRY?

The manual for your calculator can be found here: http://support.casio.com/pdf/004/fx-82ES_83ES.etc_Eng.pdf

To input a sexagesimal value [this is another word for Degrees/Minutes/Seconds], you need to follow the instructions on page E-21 of the manual.
  1. Type in the degrees
  2. Press the "degrees" button. This is located two buttons above the "8" button and looks like the degrees symbol and some commas
  3. Type in the minutes
  4. Press the "degrees" button again.
I hope this was helpful. Good luck!
