HERE IS A LINK TO YOUTUBE VIDEOS CONCERNING YOUR WASHER..... BUT I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING ABOUT A TIMER. I HAVE REPLACED KENMORE TIMERS....PULL OFF THE KNOB...
REMOVE THE SCREWS THAT HOLD DOWN THE COVER WHERE THE TIMER IS LOCATED.... ONCE YOU HAVE THE COVER OFF..... GET YOUR PHONE OR CAMERA AND TAKE A PICTURE OF WHERE ALL THE DIFFERENT COLORED WIRES ARE LOCATED...SO YOU WONT BE LOST WHEN YOU INSTALL THE NEW TIMER.

Here is the timer to order. To remove the knob on the old timer, from the back of the timer there is the knob pin that you push in and it will release the the knob.
The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.
First check the continuity of the wires in the lid switch and the switch itself. Make a jumper wire to attach to the lid switch connector on the washer cabinet and set it to spin. If still no spin, replace the timer.
There should be a spring clip that holds the timer knob on. It or the timer knob may need replaced. Here is a picture of the timer knob and the spring clip. Sure hope this helps and best wishes.
If you are talking about the timer, the part number is 661636. It can be viewed at searspartsdirect.com by typing in your model number and locating item number 19 under the "Control Panel" heading.
I hope this helps you.
PS What is the reason you are replacing the timer? I'm not trying to second guess anyone's troubleshooting abilities, but sometimes symptoms can be misleading. You may not need a timer. If there are any doubts, please post back and let me know what your washer is/is not doing.
Something in the timer came apart. Timer needs replaced. When in good working order, the timer should ONLY ever be turned clockwise..Reversing this could break it.
Fix the timer on the washer so that it fills with the correct amount of
water, and so there is the correct amount of time for each cycle. Make
sure the washer is unplugged and take off the control knobs and the
panel that lays over the knobs. The knobs could be either at the front
or back of the machine. Check the wires that link the timer to other
areas of the washer. If they are slack, push them further into place
with pliers.
Change the timer by disconnecting the old one. Make sure the new timer
is made for the brand of washer that you own. Unhook the wires to the
old timer one at a time and connect each wire to the new timer.
