Re: My refridgerator box fills with water
Common issue.....sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine
a 6ya Repairman can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

What is the model number of your refrigerator this problem is usually caused by inefficient water supply to the ice maker on a whirlpool icemaker the fill valve seals for 7.5 seconds if the water flow is obstructed T-valve that are not recommended for refrigerator water supply lines the next problem could be your water control valve or the filters are clogged restricting water flow here's a short video
Appliance 911 Sea Breeze
Would not expect you to ask this question but yes you are
right cajunboudoin, an obstructed water line by either a defective water control valve, water filter
beyond its useful life or a crimped water supply line will cause the ice cubes
to be small during drop of ice cubes into ice bin. Fact is with Whirlpool the
water valve is set to remain open filling ice maker for around 7 seconds. If
water is moving slow filling the time will be to slow for the flow, If anyone
has a good question you do but I would always want everyone to provide their
model number, Click Here=> Whirlpool Ice Maker Troubleshooting Thanks
Sounds like the fill tube at the ice maker is either out of alignment or has a crack in it.
The water supply line from the water inlet valve
enters the rear of the freezer and releases the water into a large
diameter fill tube. The fill tubes hangs above the fill cup which funnels the
water into the ice mold. If the fill tube and fill cup are improperly aligned,
water may spill out instead of going into the mold.
WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.
Hello there: here is a couple of things to check ok The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply
comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block
the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch
to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block
the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the
water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell
you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is
You said, The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.
How old is the fridge? When have you last changed the water filter. Should be down below at the front grille! Try these tasks!
If the ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply shutoff valve turned on? Connect refrigerator to water supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open. • Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce water flow. Straighten the water source line. • Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch (depending on model) is in the ON position. • New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice production. • Freezer door closed completely? Firmly close the freezer compartment door. If the freezer compartment door will not close all the way, see "The doors will not close completely." • Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for ice maker to produce more ice. • Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm? Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil. • Water filter installed on the refrigerator? Remove filter and operate ice maker. If ice volume improves, then the filter may be clogged or incorrectly installed. Replace filter or reinstall it correctly. • Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to your cold water supply? This can decrease water pressure.
