Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5300 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Hi. I was looking for help with my Kodak EasyShare 5300 printer and saw that you answered a question a couple days ago and the **** was so pissed at Kodak that they hit you with an IA for your response. Well, I hope you can help me (and I won't rate you down).
My printer was not printing black. New ink, same. Installed new print head. Worked for about two days, then would not print documents from computer. (will print a calibration page, but now even that does not print the black) Kodak sent a new replacement printer, which requires switching out the "used two days" print head into the newest printer and the ink cartridges. Same results. If I try to print this page, for example, I get an error box that says "printer not responding". I have tried two communication cables. Same result. I can hear the computer acknowledge the unplugging and plugging in to the communication cable. (windows XP, give a "ba dunk" noise, and when you plug it back in, it pops up a box that says "auto play" and allows you to go to set auto play defaults in the control panel for hardware and sound items like "audio CD" "DVD Movie" "Pictures" and several "EasyShare AiO" items with a camera icon. They have choices of "Ask me every time" or "Take no action" for most of them,and there are a total of 20 categories.
Any ideas what happened to my printer(s)? Did I get a defective print head?
I would suggest the following :
1) Remove the Kodak printer and all its software.
2) Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
3) Reinstall the entire software applications for the printer just as if you were installing it for the first time.
4) When asked to connect the printer .. Use a different USB port .. even if you have to switch something out .. but do this step irregardless.
Now what I want to know is ..
1) Can you print from the computer?
2) Black still "gone" ?
