Question about Mitsubishi VS-60607 TV

9 Answers

Mitsibishi VS-60607 TV won't turn on and remote won't work now.

I was playing a video game last night and when I shut off the game console, the TV randomly changed inputs and wouldn't shut off. I tried the remote and it didn't work eiter so I tried pushing the front AV reset button and still no help. I unplugged the TV to shut it off. This morning I tried to turn it back on and nothing would work to turn on the TV. I replaced the batteries in the remote but nothing woill get it turned back on. It has happened a little in the past and pushing the AV rest always did the trick, but now it won't. I need help before the Super Bowl game today if I can get it.

Which IC and do I need to replace the whole mother board or just the IC? Could you be a little more vague???

I unplugged the TV last night and plugged it back in this morning and it turned back on. I am afraid to turn it back off now. There are no lights on the front panel, blinking or otherwise, except when it came back on. I checked all 5 fuses on the board and they are good. I was told the 2 convergence ICs were bad, but I don't understand how convergence ICs have anything to do with the power or remote problems. I hate to shotgun parts into this problem, if you know what I mean. Any other suggestions?

If you unplugged TV and plugged back, and now TV is fine, the problem is sorted.

Unplugging the TV is called hard reset and sort out problems related to electrostatic charges on internal circuits and bad settings problem by draining power off TV completely.

The original problem was probably caused by some jammed capacitor on the HDMI input on TV.

To prevent problem in the future:

Always plug and unplug HDMI devices with TV off.

Do not let a plugged device (EG your game console) plugged to tv for a long time while the set is off.

Use good quality HDMI cables (eg. monster cable).

Regarding the IC, some of the experts here are not really technician, and post their hint as a regular user could do. To makle it simpler , the IC was pure rubbish and the guy did not have a clue of what he was talking about.

What you should have done from start was just unplugging (hard reset) and then following suggestions above.

You may need to open up the power supply and check for cracked solder joints on the board.

Try a hard reset,(Unplug for 4 hours and then try it.)

If a hard reset doesn't do the trick,
It sounds like it might be a loose contacts on the power module relay.
(This can sometimes be tested by hitting the unit with the palm of you hand in a few different locations while try to turn it on)

Sir,

i think the problem with continuous running the tv. may be the capacitor burnt out. Is there any light blinking? check what type of error code it displayed. Also try to hard reset the tv. unplug the power for 24 hours.

check this forum for more help

thanks
good luck

As it can be possible that the ic or the capacitor on the main board of the tv are going to blow out as due to getting faulty.and while you shut it off the game console.at that time it actually got short circuit.and tv did not start .its advisable to check out the board of the tv with a meter first and locate the faulty component.and replace them.do not on the tv till it gets checked and repaired.as it may make some more damage to the components due to this.u can get the parts from
radioshack website.

If there is a blinking on the front pannel of the tv then its ic on the main board of the tv.you will have to check out that with multimeter to lpocate the faulty ic as there r many on the main board.but if the light on the frontpannnel is not coming on then its the small $2 fuse which it blown out.its on the main board.get it replaced.

Does it make any noises? Do you hear any clicking sounds? Does the the light on the tv blink at all when you try to turn it on?

If you see no blinking or no indication of power what so ever then you will need to replace the power supply to get it working again.

Mitisubishi 60607 will come on the go right back off

you have a component failure. begin checking the on-board fuses. that should lead you to the circuit that failed. most often it is the convergence circuit. 2nd most is a loss of vertical deflection. this is a tube protection circuit that shuts the set off before it destroys the crt's.

I have a Mitsubishi VS-60607 Tv and it started out

Without going in with troubleshooting equipment it is hard to determine if the problems are related or not but it is unlikely since you seem to have a video problem and a convergence problem , which are two separate circuit(signal processing and deflection). Hope this help.
