I just bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200. It won't play DVD's and keeps saying wrong area code...I live in Australia, bought the PC in Australia and am trying to play Australian DVD's but

hi, I think this may help. what you need to do first of all is change the default player for DVD's from Toshiba Video Player to Windows Media Player, cant remember off hand how to do that but should be in manual, but try this. go to windows control panel, select 'Default Programs' and click on it, then select 1st option 'Set Your Default Programs' a list of all programs will come up, look for Windows Media Player and click on it, then choose one of the options on the right. The top one sets as default, the bottom one allows you to set file types to open with the program. this should work as it is telling your system to launch that program for DVD's etc, If you cant find your control panel, simply click Start and type it in the little box that appears just above it.
hope this helps

I just bought hp mini 210-1160 netbook along with exeternal dvd drive but when i try to play dvd its says dvd codec not present plz help me.

A video codec or decoder is a computer device or software that your computer should have for you to be able to watch dvd's and more. if you are getting "dvd codec not present" it means a couple of things--(1) your system did not have that device installed when you got it or (2) its pre-installed video/dvd codec has failed working. The first thing i recommend you do is trying to download dvd codecs online -here's a link for you ,install it and try to load a disc to your drive and see if it fixes the problem..hope this one works

Bought a pre-owned computer and cant do lots of things,i want to name my system and ther is a can i change my settings.and how to restore factory settings

Commonly, recent branded laptops or netbooks have a feature called system restore or system recovery that allows to return your computer to a the factory default state, in other words, almost a brand new state software, this feature can be available depending on manufacturer and model, by CD/DVD system restore disks, as an option shown during starup or a software utility running in Windows.

I have a Dell Latitude d531, fresh install of windows xp pro sp3. is stars up fine and runs ok but, if i got to hulu or and vid site it lags so much. the audio will play fine but the vid will be so far...

Go to your BIOS settings and load the defaults or else you might mess the other settings. There is no tweaks in the BIOS side since it is pre-configured to be efficient.

Make sure that your video and audio drivers are installed and are updated. Run MS updates as well.

Also, the behavior can also be attributed to hardware speed or the internet speed. Try to check them as well.

One more thing, increase your Virtual Memory if you are using windows since this helps speed up your computer.

My Acer 6920G will not play Blue Ray DVD'S. I am unable to get helpful info from Acer. Tried to find a Driver to download with no sucess. Would greatly appreciate help

You also need a patch from Acer,
Acer Arcade Deluxe v1.13.4806

Go to acer arcade deluxe
select "Play Movie"
Select "settings"
select "BD settings"
Select "region code"
Select "region B" for the UK

Important Note!:
You can only change your region !!! 5 !!!! times!
that is 5 times!
I am totally stressing this.....5 times!

You may have to do this a second time so your computer locks on to this region code.
If you watch an american blu-ray vid, on the fifth change of the region code your computer locks to this region !FOREVER!

Restore a acer aspire 4330 back to factory settings

Follow these instructions carefully:

To start the recovery process:
1. Restart the system.
2. While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3. Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

I copied the above from an Acer manual, and it works on my own system, which is not the same model as yours. But you must understand that this will basically restore your computer to the condition in which it was when you bought it, unpacked it from the box, and followed the instructions to set up a new computer.

This will give you your system back as if it were brandy new, but in most cases, anything you created, like DOCs, or XLS files, again … ANYthing you created since buying this computer, will also probably not be there any more.

You will have a pristine, clean as new, computer system.

Be careful, be absolutely sure this is what you want to do, and go ahead and do it.

No Sir, Acer Aspire 4330 comes with different Optical Media Loadings, ( You can see a pdf file here )
  • DVD/CD-RW combo drive
  • 8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive.
But you have the first one, The Combo drive not the super so you can READ both CD's DVD's but can write only CD's.

Hope this removes your dilemma.

Acer aspire 2930 DVD player only opens some dvds

Try Media player classic under k-lite codec pack. Then open video files on the dvd. If it doesn't help try another codec player. If nothing helps could it be that dvd player is not capable of multilayer dvd reading.
