I have an old GE DDE7500 electric dryer and I'm trying to replace the foil duct with a semi-rigid duct, but it seems too big for the dryer. I can't seem to lock it down, even with the screw-based...

the dryer duct itself from the inside of the dryer connected to the blower housing has probably collapsed, they are no longer available, but you could make your own new one from elbows and straight pipe to replace the old one

How old is this unit? Usually these locks cost an arm and a leg. This is especially true with units like: G.E, Frigidaire, Hotpoint...These are units that are owned and operated under General Electric. First, if you have a volt-ohm-meter, do a continuity check on the switch itself. Then if that checks out, your next culprit would be the main control board (most likely).

Replacement motor

your blower fan screws onto the end shat of the motor. Now the direction? It could be reverse threads. Since you are changing out the motor stick a screw driver in the old motor to lock it up and try righty-lefty to loosen your fan. don't damage the fan with tools. Go here and see if your fan is shown

Hotpoint CTD00 Door Catch Replacement

If yuo are referring to the catch on the door, then undo all the scews holding the 2 halves of the door together, and prize apart, fit new door catch.
If you mean the door lock, then you will have to remove the top cover and right hand side panel to access the door lock.
Hope this helps.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer (2yrs old) Light buld died and dryer won't start. We changed bought a new light bulb but the dryer still doesn't start. The computerized buttons still litght up though.

Sometimes when a bulb goes out or is replaced the unit can short out.

Try holding your end of cycle signal button for 5 seconds, watch the light, if you control lock it, it will light but will not run because control lock is a safety feature.

Also try pushing door in and starting it, might be bad latch
