1 long, 2 short is an error with the video adapter. This isn't specific to IBM systems either, that code is the same for pretty much every BIOS out there. It seems your video card may be at fault. has anything changed? do you have any picture on the display at all? If you have zero picture it will be hard to get into safe mode and try to roll back drivers etc. It may be that the video adapter is just defective. You can contact IBM/Lenova and see about getting a replacment or you can take it into an authorized repair place. You can also attempt to obtain a replacement video adapter for the T61 and install it yoursel fif you have the knowhow Hope this helpsGood luck!
Generally laptop batteries (Lithium-Ion) come in standard 6-cell and 12-cell configurations, lasting about 1.5 to 2 years before they begin to degrade in their charge capacity.
HP has issued 3 recalls in the last two years regarding laptop batteries, and you can check to see if your laptop qualifies for their replacement program under the recall at: http://bpr.hpordercenter.com/hbpr/
You can also shop Nextag for laptop batteries that are compatible with the dv600z, here are some search results: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=laptop+battery+for+hp+dv6000z&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=EqgtSuvxF4_SNOvR7PcJ&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title
Lastly, if you purchased the laptop at Best Buy for instance, and you purchased the GSBTP (geek squad black tie protection) which is just their in-store warranty, they all come with a free battery replacement for the term of the warranty.
