Question about Midway Home Entertainment Mortal Kombat 4 for Windows
I've been trying to solve the same problem. Here's a solution I discovered that worked for the same problem in Vista; it may work also for XP.
To install and play Mortal Kombat 4 in Vista:
Choose installation folder (create it later).
Get error message.
Do not click "Clean up."
CTRL-SHIFT-ESC and kill setup.exe process.
Create installation folder (selected during setup).
Copy all files in DATA folder on CD to installation folder.
Rename MK4.exe to Mortal Kombat 4.exe.
Install patch (optional).

It could be several things......
What os? XP?
It could be that it did not install the start menue short cut.
try going to the folder if it got that far and try to start the game.
How much free space is on the hard drive?
Are you installing from a disc? Is it very clean or have finger prints? make sure it is spotless. use tooth paste or liquid hand or dish soap and only run the soap ONE WAY and not in a circle. the same goes with drying it. Use hot water too.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
