Question about HP DeskJet 950c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Prints faint and cuts of the top and bottom of some lines

Some lines are printed normally, while quite often the first and last line of a paragraph can have a thin white line/s running through the print. Some lines are even just a series of a few dots running across the length of the page. There seems to be enough ink in the cartridges

It was cleaning the contacts and the encoder with a damp cloth that seemed to rectify my problem. I also shook the cartridges a bit, jiggled the ink around. Perhaps it was a miracle - or all of the above.
    Thanks anyway wiz.

The ink in the cartridges has dried up. Replace them.

Last print line of any doc printed with HP J6480 is cut off

I had been experiencing this problem intermittently for some time, so I finally got a hold of HP support and with the second support technician, I did get a solution that worked for the document I was printing at the time. When Printing, click Printing Preferences, click the Advanced tab, under the Printer Features section, set Minimize margins to On. Per the technician, 'The printable area of the product increases (bottom margin 12 mm to 3 mm), so that printing closer to the edge of the paper.'

Also, he recommended using the printer's Print Preview option under same the Printer Preferences window. When I did, I did in fact see the document's bottom paper being 'cutoff' with the old settings (i.e., Minimize margins Off), with it On, it look okay.

Hope this helps. Let me know if this works for you.

Prints complete lines with occasional lines half height of letter

Your printer cogs may be damaged or your paper rollers could be slipping resulting in this "odd" output.

Paper rollers can be cleaned with an appropriate cleaning kit but if the cogs are damaged it's not worth repairing.

New cartridges not printing

Sounds like the cartridges are faulty whihc does happen with non hp cartridges. try the cleaning process in the setup/tools menu. if this doesn't woprk send the cartridges back and get another set. The cartridges have their own printhead so it can only be the cartridges at fault
